For years now, I’ve never been able to be consistent about having nicely painted nails. There would be times here or there where I would find a spare moment to get a manicure, but before I knew it my paint was chipping and I just didn’t have the time or energy for the upkeep. I’ve always had a bit of a love / hate relationship with manicured nails as I really do believe that it is the attention to details that make an everyday girl look like a put-together lady.
I decided I’d try my hand (literally, lol!) at DIY manicures again and found myself lingering by the nail polish displays during a recent trip to the drugstore. Given that I don’t have much time as a full-time working mom of two to spend an hour on a manicure every week, I needed products that did double duty! I picked up a few new goodies from the Sally Hansen line and it has literally made having manicured nails super easy even for this busy mom! I can’t wait to share with you all this quick 3-step process that will give you that salon-quality result in under 10 minutes! (And did I mention that your nails will also be healthier than ever?!)
using Sally Hansen Complete Care 7-in-1 Nail Treatment
I start off with the Sally Hansen Complete Care 7-in-1 nail treatment and it really is the all-star, must-have product in this whole process. This little gem is a base coat, top coat, growth treatment, strengthener, ridge filler, brightener, and ultra-moisturizing nail treatment. I love that I can basically rely on this product alone not only to ensure that my manicure has great shine and lasts all week but also to take care of my nails! The treatment is a patented formula with avocado oil, sea salt, pomegranate extract, and calcium that moisturizes, fills in gaps, and even helps staining! I love the clear pink color too and oftentimes will even wear this alone as it gives me the perfect natural manicure look while nourishing and strengthening my natural nails.
using Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Polish in “Shell We Dance?”
I then follow-up with nail polish. I go for super light pinks and whites for my nails in the summertime and my current favorite is the “Shell We Dance?” shade by Sally Hansen. The wide brush makes streak-free application a breeze and I love the beautiful milky color.
Depending on how opaque I want the result, I decide if I want one or two coats. Then, I seal it all in with another layer of the 7-in-1 nail treatment. I’ve been able to go 2 weeks chip-free with a single manicure application with this polish and treatment combination and usually have to update my manicure simply because my nails have grown out! While I did have dry, brittle nails in the past and found my nails breaking easily once they started growing past a certain length, since using the Sally Hansen treatment, I can definitely say that my nails are stronger than ever!
using Sally Hansen Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil
Finally, to really complete the look of salon-quality nails, I apply the Sally Hansen Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil around my nailbed. I’m not very good about trimming my own cuticles but I’ve found that if I apply this oil to my nails regularly (I just do it before bed each night and massage it in), my cuticles stay in pretty good shape!
Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil, Complete Care 7-in-1 Nail Treatment, Complete Salon Manicure Polish in “Shell We Dance?”
This super simple 3-step technique has been my go-to for the past few weeks, and I’m so glad that I can finally have the look of manicured nails without having to find time to go to the salon every other week! And in case you’re wondering where to find these products, I picked mine up at Walgreens.

I love painting my nails but I also find a hard time to get them done. I really need to look into getting the complete care nail system! It sounds like a great product!

Keep in mind that as soon as you purchase gadgets at an property sale there are not any returns so you will want
to be especially careful of this.

I have given up on manicured nails! They chip within a few hours because I do way too much with my hands from cooking and cleaning and tending to the littles! When I do have the time and the money, I will splurge on a gel manicure, which I love because they don’t chip and last a full 2-3 weeks before the grow out looks bad. But then I usually cannot afford to splurge on another one! Oh, it’s a mom’s life and the struggle is real! So how does the Sally Hansen polish hold up against chipping?

My manicures usually last at least 10 days without chipping and sometimes I can even go up to 14 days! There are also gel nail polish options available too and I’m sure those would probably work even better. 🙂

I am pinning this post for sure! My poor nails are in such a sad state. It’s SO rare that I take the time to paint them, but at the very least I could treat them and do a clear coat. Thanks for the tips!

Thanks for the tips! I do my nails myself too!

I do love the look of a fresh manni, but it can be a big time suck – especially the down time waiting for them to dry! the only way I can do my own nails is if I have some time in the evening, once EVERYTHING else is done and I can just watch tv and paint my nails. Then I need a speed dry top coat or else I’ll get sheet marks!

that’s true! the drying does take some time. i usually do an application before I’m sitting down to blog and have at some time on my hands. i was using a good speed dry top coat from Opi awhile ago (http://amzn.to/2abQRxw) but need to stock up again!

I mostly do my nails myself, as I don’t have time to make it to the salon, so I’ll have to check out these Sally Hansen products. Loving your color!
