Hello and happy Monday! How is it already the last week of September?? The weather is slowly starting to cool down and I am ready for it to feel like Fall! Fall fashion is one of my favorites as it’s always so much fun to start adding in layers and textures to my outfits and not worry about ending up in a puddle of sweat come mid-afternoon. 😅
I’ve noticed a few trends emerging already as we head into the new season and thought it would be so fun to incorporate a few into an easy outfit look! I actually found everything here at JCPenney as I was already shopping there for some back-to-school outfits for the kids and couldn’t help but notice these cute pieces. Anybody else guilty of buying something for themselves when they go intend to only shopping for somebody else?? 🙋♀️
Let’s get started with the Fall fashion trends already!
Shacket
Shacket: JCPenney Shirt Jacket c/o (XS / size down)
The shacket made it’s first debut last Fall and it’s back again this year! The “shacket” is a hybrid term for “shirt + jacket” and essentially just means wearing a more oversized shirt as a jacket. I’ll admit that previously I was a bit on-the-fence about this shacket trend as I find baggy styles tend to swallow my petite frame, but now that I’ve had a chance to try it out, it’s actually much more wearable than I realized! If you’re petite (or just have short legs), the trick is to find a shacket that ends right at the hips or higher. This helps with proportions as you’ll get more leg that’s visible and I would also recommend to pair with other outfit pieces that are more fitted and tailored to create a look that’s more streamlined.
This Arizona shacket is one of my favorite finds from JCPenney as the colors are perfect for pairing with all my Fall outfits and it’s even lined so it’ll carry me through even when early winter starts to hit. The style is intended to be oversized but I would say that it does run slightly large even so — size down at least once if you’re wanting slightly oversized and twice if you’re wanting something more fitted.

Faux Leather Shorts

Faux leather is really hitting the fashion scene pretty hard these last few years and I absolutely love how it can add an unexpected edge to your look! Leather pants and jackets aren’t quite feasible yet with the weather, but these faux leather shorts are the perfect transition. These shorts have a mid-rise that’s mom friendly as well as a 4″ inseam that adds some modesty to make it much more wearable! The faux leather is plush and soft, and I love a paperbag waist style too as it’s my fave for creating a flattering hourglass look that doesn’t require me to wear Spanx underneath. 😆

Chelsea Boots

New to the scene this year is the Chelsea boot and it’s like a mix of your classic ankle boot and the trendier lug-sold combat boot (think Dr. Martens!). These Chelsea boots are that perfect combination of dressy and casual, so pairing it with just about any outfit will work. I particularly like this Chelsea boot style from St. Johns Bay as it has a subtle 1/2″ wedge that gives me that tiny added height while still keeping with the classic Chelsea boot style. These boots didn’t need any sort of breaking in and I love that the elastic opening makes it an easy shoe that I can slip on when I’m in a rush too!

Plaid
Plaid is always on trend when Fall comes around so no surprises here! Whether it’s a plaid shirt or a plaid skirt, there are so many ways that you can add this print in and get into the Fall mood.

I remember when faux leather was a faux pas! Nowadays with so many people seeking vegan and animal cruelty-free products, faux leather is the preferred material for many items. Shackets are a funny fashion term – pair them with cute keychain accessories and you have the perfect casual autumn outfits! Great blog post as always and very helpful navigating the fashion scene 🙂
Thanks for the information about new trends. Along with studying new trends, I became interested in the biographies of of models and celebrities. It’s like a hobby for me now. The more I learn, for example, about Yanet Garcia, read the details here, the more motivated I get in my daily life. I realized that everything is possible, you just need to make a little effort on the way to your dream.
