Hello and happy Friday (finally)! I’m so happy that the weekend is finally around the corner. Work has been taking up all of my time lately as I have a large deadline that’s coming up but hopefully the end is near! Both kids started up school this week and we’re all adjusting to a new schedule (mornings have been a bit hurried but I’m trying to get more things ready the night before to make that process smoother!). I wanted to share one of my favorite looks from last week that I wore to the office as it’s definitely one of my favorites. First off, can we all talk about how gorgeous these earrings are? They just popped up on the Baublebar website and I couldn’t snag them fast enough! You all know that I’m a statement earring lover and these have been my go-to piece for making an outfit really stand out — plus can you believe they’re under $40?!
Meanwhile I’ve been getting a few questions on how to style office trends and still keep it appropriate for the workplace, so I wanted to share a few tips. I currently work at a startup so the dress code is a bit more casual and flexible, but I do try to keep my looks more on the business casual side with a little bit of fun. If you do work in a more professional environment though, keep reading as I will also include tips for you.
1. Keep it modest. My general principle is that even while styling office trends, make sure to keep yourself covered where appropriate. Suitable necklines / hemlines, covered shoulders, and nothing too body conscious are my general guidelines. I tend to avoid trends like cutouts, off-shoulder styles, and of course anything with a slit that could be too revealing.
2. Stick to office-friendly trend details. Fun ways to incorporate current styles into a work look would be playing around with fun prints and details such as ruffles, fluted sleeves, and embroidery.
3. Add in a tailored piece. A few investment-worthy pieces include blazers, tailored pants, pencil skirts, and a fitted button-down shirt. Style a fun trendy piece and pair it with a more tailored option (e.g. a ruffle top paired with a blazer and slacks) make for a great office outfit that’s still youthful yet professional.
4. Have fun with accessories. And if nothing else seems fitting, start with some fun accessories! A tassel earrings, a bold-colored bag, or even a leopard-print pair of slides! Accessories can be a fun way to spice out these everyday office trends!
