A Peplum Top That Flatters Every Body Type

Well, I think we’re finally recovered from the weekend!  We’ve had a slew of birthday celebrations lately — three in a week including one for baby Kennedy.  The sugar high has been real!  #somuchcake  Planning Kennedy’s birthday party was so much fun and while I ordered a pink champagne smash cake for her, little did I realize that this little girl likes chocolate!  She didn’t much care for her pretty pink cake but boy did she love the chocolate cake that we had at another friend’s birthday party the next day (baby girl finished off my slice and was even vying for Dylan’s!).

Meanwhile, so many fun things to talk about in this outfit!  First off, this tweed jacket is seriously my favorite one ever (which says a lot from this tweed jacket lover!).  I love that this jacket is slim and fitted throughout as some tweed jackets can look a little bulky or boxy.  I normally wear 00P but sized up to 00R as it does run narrow.  The shrunken fit is perfect for those with petite frames as the length hits right above hip level on me and the sleeves actually don’t need any shortening (or scrunching!).  The tweed fabric has a subtle mixture of different colors that makes it so easy to pair with a multitude of different outfits — if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen it already styled in this look!  This jacket is on sale for 25% off right now (code NEWNEW) but hurry as sizes are selling out!

Peplum has been hitting it big this spring and I couldn’t be more excited!  I love the feminine ruffle detailing and it’s perfect for my post-baby body as my tummy is still my problem area (I also have a somewhat bad case of diastatis recti).  I was a bit wary of this top being too short and the dip hem in the back looking ridiculous, but it ended up being so cute!  The ruffles play up my girly side while the stripes add a chic, classic vibe.  And while the arm holes had looked wide initially, it turns out that the sleeve opening is a normal size while the shoulder fabric is just stitched to come to a close down below (if that makes any sense…).  Being someone who is self-conscious at times whenever sleeves make my arms look too big, I actually like the oversized shoulders!  The fit is slightly boxy but I actually love it paired with skinny jeans (a waist belt is included with the top although I chose not to wear it).
