Now that sandal season is out, it’s easy to start neglecting your feet. Personally I’m on my feet even more during the wintertime as I’m usually out for hours at a time doing holiday shopping and I know my feet will definitely be sore and achy by the end of it. Since we put our feet through so much, it’s important that we give them a little TLC every now and then too! Here are a few of my foot care tips (that don’t require a trip to the salon either!):
After a lot of walking, I will end up with callouses on my heels and on the balls of my feet. I personally haven’t had much luck with pumice stones (and it’s especially awkward right now with a pregnant belly) so I was excited to see this electric exfoliator gadget at my local Target a few weeks ago! The Amopé Pedi Perfect is an battery-operated foot file that buffs away rough skin in a few minutes. It works on dry skin and I actually appreciated the fact that I didn’t need to balance on one foot on my wet shower floor in order to exfoliate. My feet can be a bit sensitive so I was also glad that the Amopé was gentle and didn’t make my feet tingle or feel irritated.
While the Amopé Pedi Perfect is a brand new product that was recently released, it is selling out quickly! I picked mine up at Target (it was the last one left!) in the foot care aisle and from now until 11/22, there’s a Cartwheel offer for 10% off as well as a $5 Target gift card!
I follow up my exfoliation with a good moisturizer and I paired mine with the Amopé foot cream (that I found next to the Pedi Perfect). I actually really liked this lotion as it absorbed quickly and didn’t have any sort of strong scent (I’m especially sensitive to smells right now since I’m pregnant) and left my feet feeling hydrated.
Wear Slippers / Socks Indoors
Growing up in a Chinese household, I would always see my parents wearing indoor house slippers but I always turned my head whenever they were offered to me. Slippers were just cumbersome and seemed to get in the way! But now as I’ve grown older, I’ve realized how big of a difference a nice pair of supportive house slippers make as far as easing the strain I put on my feet, especially when it’s the end of the day (I’ve even gotten Adrian to start wearing house slippers regularly now!). Even if you’re not a slipper person, I highly recommend a pair of socks to create a barrier between your skin and the floor.
I also cannot recommend enough a good pair of insoles and/or heel grips to keep your feet happy. Just a light bit of padding makes a world of difference as far as comfort goes and heel grips are my lifesaver when it comes to shoes (mostly high heels) that have a slight tendency to slip off, rub, and cause blisters.
Invest in a pair of flats and you won’t regret it. In the fall and winter months, I have a pair of simple black flats that I keep in my bag at all times. For summer times, I’ll keep a pair of cute slip-on sandals so that I can easily switch into something more comfortable when I need to do extensive walking somewhere or if my feet just can’t handle the heels anymore.
Hopefully some of these tips were helpful and I hope you’ll try out the new Amopé foot products too for making foot care that much easier! #RespectUrFeet
