An Introduction + Review: Everlane Silk Blouse

A beautiful silk blouse is a foundation piece in every woman’s closet.  The trouble is finding the that shirt with just the right relaxed cut for that casual look yet still fitted enough to give it a feminine appeal.  Add to that the petiteness factor and it  oftentimes means that these intentionally oversized shirts end up looking like they’re swallowing me whole.  I first heard about Everlane a couple months ago from Audrey and then later from Fran when they tried on their selection of tees.  But, it was when I heard that they also offered silk shirts that my interest seriously piqued.

After trying on this Everlane silk blouse, I was sold.  The 100% brushed silk is soft yet thick — I love that I don’t need to worry about visible undergarment lines.  The fit is slim yet relaxed.  For those familiar with Equipment blouses, the Everlane silk shirt fits slimmer than the Equipment signature blouse.  I was a bit wary of the front placket at first, but I’ve found that it helps keep the elegant drape of the silk and prevents any problems with gaping.  I love that the shirt comes in a variety of beautiful colors that are all so easy to pair!  Everlane has definitely made designer luxury more affordable for the everyday person.  No longer do I need to lust after a $200+ Equipment signature blouse that will still require alterations.  I now have my pick of the Everlane silk blouses.  And at only $80, it’s a definite win.

For those wondering how Everlane is able to keep their prices so low, the brand is an online-only store and thus is able to eliminate the brick-and-mortar expense.  They have a philosophy of “radical transparency” and actually disclose all information about the clothes they sell — from the factories where they’re made to the actual production cost of each item right down to the thread.  They aren’t afraid to let you know upfront what their markup is.
