Have you ever put on a dress that just made you feel fabulous? There’s something about wearing a beautiful silk dress in a bold floral print that will have you leaving the house feeling empowered in the morning. I’m also a big fan of the shirt dress design as it’s so easy to wear even on those days when I may be feeling a little bloated or just don’t have a lot of time to fuss over an outfit.
The pops of red, yellow, and fuchsia are bright and cheerful against the sea of navy, and I love that I could dress it up for a day at the office or dress it down with a pair of flats for the weekend. Meanwhile, I was a bit worried about caring for this dress as I didn’t want to dull the bright colors or damage the delicate fabric. Dry cleaning can be expensive, so I thought I’d share my technique on how I was able to successfully machine wash this dress at home (cause wouldn’t you know it, with two kids I inevitably got a bit of spaghetti sauce on the front… #storyofmylife). I’ve long relied on my Tide PODS for laundering all of my clothes so I popped in a capsule into the washing machine (make sure the Tide PODS go in before the clothes!), placed the dress in a mesh bag, and then set the machine on delicate before running it. I skipped the spin cycle began and instead laid the dress flat on a towel, which I then rolled up to gently “wring” the dress dry. I then hung up the dress to dry, gently smoothing out any folds or wrinkles. And that’s it!
