Last day to enter my Lee Jeans giveaway!
So the holidays are officially here and it’s a big time of year for traveling! I know a few years ago when I was taking the kids on their first trip, I was scrambling to find a good travel stroller to take with me. At the time I only had a jogging stroller and even though it was small for jogging stroller standards, it would not travel well on the plane. I ended up going to several stores late at night and trying out a bunch of lightweight strollers last minute, so I figured I would save you the time and effort with a roundup of my favorite lightweight strollers that I use and recommend (I’m kind of a stroller junkie 😆). Trust me, having the right stroller when you’re already overloaded with suitcases and trying to juggle everything on-the-road along can make a BIG difference!
Lightweight strollers are the best of both worlds, in my opinion. Not quite as large and bulky as a traditional stroller yet not nearly as skimpy as an umbrella stroller. I personally love this category of strollers for their versatility (they’re amazing for navigating cramped spaces). They’re a must-have even if you’re just zipping around town and want something light and easy that you can take in and out of the trunk.
Uppababy G-Lite / G-Luxe – $159.00 / $279.00
traveling to see Grandma! (I was about 25 weeks preggers at this point if you can see my belly over there!)
The Uppababy G-Lite was my first lightweight stroller and it will always have a special place in my heart! This stroller is super light at only 10.7 lbs and holds a child from 6 months to 55 lbs. Collapsing this stroller is relatively easy with triggers at each of the handlebars and I love that it stands up on its own when folded. The ride is nice and smooth while the padded seat makes for a comfy ride. The seat is low enough that my kids were able to climb in on their own once they were a little over a year old.
If I had to do it again though, I wish I had spent a little more and purchased the Uppababy G-Luxe as it allows for a full recline. I can’t count the number of times one of the kids has fallen asleep in the stroller (despite my original thinking that we would never do stroller naps… 😂). The second feature is I wish this stroller could fold it into a more compact shape so that it could be stowed as a carry-on during flights. I can definitely attest to the durability of this stroller as we’ve had ours for over 5 years and it’s still going strong!
Pros:
- Lightweight: 10.7 lbs
- Dimensions: 11 1/2″W x 15 1/2″L x 42″H folded
- Narrow frame for navigating narrow aisles
- All-wheel suspension
- Seats low enough for toddler to get on / off independently
- Large basket underneath
- Generous canopy with built-in sunshield extension
- Cup holder included
- Durable aluminum frame
Cons:
- No recline unless you buy the G-Luxe
- Minimum age 6 months
- Doesn’t fold small enough to allow for airline carry-on storage

gb Pockit Stroller – $179.95
The gb Pockit stroller holds the 2014 Guiness World Record title of world’s smallest folding stroller and also won the 2016 reddot award and gold award! If you travel often and want something that folds so small that you can put it in a tote bag, then this stroller is your answer! I was a bit skeptical of this stroller when I first tried it out, but it definitely impresses with its features that you often find in larger strollers: padded seats, storage basket, lockable front swivel wheels, overhead canopy, rear wheel parking brake, and padded handlebars. The Pockit stroller easy to steer (even one-handed!) and it has a unique 2-step folding design that makes it compact enough to store in overhead bins when traveling. With 4.4 stars out of 5 and over 400 reviews, you guys know this stroller has to be good!
Pros:
- Absolutely tiny – fits into overhead compartments when traveling
- Super lightweight: 9.5 lbs
- Dimensions: 12 x 7 x 14″ folded
- Convenient storage basket
- Sun canopy
Cons:
- No recline
- Small canopy doesn’t provide complete sun coverage (reviews recommend switching it out with this one)
- Lacks a bit of sturdiness
- Takes a bit of work to fold down completely

OXO TOT Air Stroller – $179.99
I’ve used OXO products for years in my kitchen and love the story of how OXO Tot began — essentially the company had a baby boom with 25 babies born to 50 employees! They designed products to meet their own needs as parents and their first hand experience really shows in their products. The OXO Tot Air Stroller is my newest lightweight stroller addition and it might just be my favorite! In my opinion, this air stroller is like a hybrid between the Uppababy G-Lite and the gb Pockit. It has more of the full-size stroller features such as an extended canopy, front-wheel suspension, and a secret zippered parent pocket in the back (perfect for storing phones!). This stroller only weighs 11 lbs and fold down easily to the size of a backpack (with a carrying-strap build in!). I do wish that it had a recline as well as a cup holder (although one is available for purchase), but otherwise, this is probably the stroller I’ll be taking on our holiday travels this season!
Pros:
- Lightweight: 11 lbs
- Folds easily to backpack size
- Stands upright when folded
- Huge storage basket
- Durable aluminum frame
Cons:
- No recline
- No cup holder
- Lacks a bit of stability
- One-handed steering is a bit difficult

Thank you so much for reading Nicole!! Happy holidays!
I know how strollers can be such a hassle to travel with but how essential it is to bring. We bought an umbrella stroller thinking it was easy, convenient for when my son would get tired BUT that was a big mistake. So your suggestions are great recommendations!
