Flattering Shorts for Every Body Type
It’s that Friday feeling, y’all!! So excited to be kicking off the weekend with one of my favorite posts. My fellow girlfriends and I have been loving these monthly Style For Every Body series posts, and June is all about flattering shorts! I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with denim shorts personally as it’s so hard to find a pair that isn’t too tight in the thighs, too short or too long to either make me look like a teenager or make my legs look stumpy… The struggle!!
Lauren, Ginger, Meredith and I are all different body types so we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share each of our favorite pair of shorts to help you find a pair that you love just in time for summer. We have so much fun every time we get together and I just love the body confidence that these babes have — it’s all about feeling comfortable in your own skin and finding clothes that make you feel good is so important!
Top: Topshop Scallop Bodysuit/Swimsuit (2 / size up)
Bottom: BlankNYC ‘Astor’ Shorts (24/TTS) – (similar, also love these!)
Shoes: See by Chloe ‘Glyn’ Scallop Espadrilles (35/size down) – (similar under $60)
Hair: Target x Sincerely Jules Headwrap
Bag: Amazon Gucci dupe
Lashes: Velour ‘You Complete Me’ (15% off w/ CRYSTALVELOUR)
Watch: Fitbit ‘Versa’
Sunglasses: Target Studded Aviators
I actually was in a bit of rush when putting together this flattering shorts outfit and couldn’t find the actual denim shorts that I wanted, but went with my second favorite pair. BlankNYC is a brand whose denim lineup I love (their busted knee jeans are a staple) so I had a good feeling when I bought these shorts in a similar style and wash. They do run a bit shorter than I prefer but love the way they look from behind and the fit in the waist/hips is perfect otherwise. Paired with tall espadrille wedges, I think they actually make my legs look long!
For other petite-friendly shorts, other go-tos include Abercrombie (own and love this pair and this pair) as well as Express (own and love this pair!).

Meanwhile, don’t tell anyone but I double up this scalloped swimsuit as a bodysuit! The one-shoulder design is a favorite of mine as I feel it actually slims my face and I just love the scallop detailing. The polyester fabric actually makes it such that it doesn’t really look like a swimsuit and it really sucks you in from all angles without being too constricting! I would recommend sizing up as it runs small (I’m wearing size 2 here but should’ve sized up to the 4).

And because the right shoes are really the finishing touch when it comes to styling shorts, I’m sharing some finds that caught my eye below. I personally love pairing a taller espadrille wedge with shorts in the summer as it adds extra height while still being walkable. The ones below are all well below $100 too!

This series is so wonderful! With all of the body-positivity happening around the web, I’m a bit less anxious about raising my daughter. Now I just need to jump on the train!
I really love this post, and how all four of you came together to ensure that you’re creating content that suits a wide range of people, and not just one-size-fits-all. It’s also great that fashion has become a lot more inclusive these days, and that you can get some super cute clothing items in all sorts of sizes and styles!
I love this series! I have a more pear-shaped body so it’s nice to see pieces that are perfect for my body type. Although I’m not as tall as your pear-shaped friend Lauren, I still get very inspired by what she wears.
Great idea for a series! Knowing how to dress for your body is definitely beneficial. I love all of these fabulous ladies! I know I love high waisted shorts and I like them to be a little loose!
All of these outfits are so cute, Kileen! I love the colors and textures and how well you all coordinate together. It’s always great to have a pair of go-to shorts that fit perfectly!
I am petite too, so, I will wear one like yours! You all look beautiful!

I think it’s so neat that you included so many different body types in this series! I love the shorts each one of you chose. I’ve heard amazing things about One Teaspoon but have yet to try any of their pieces!
I love this! So great to see the same shorts on all different sizes.
What a cute post! I never thought to wear a swimsuit as a bodysuit!
