I read in Marie Claire the other day that “Bold Is The New Black.” And that couldn’t be more true! I’m all over the color blocking trend and decided to match up two vibrant colors together. While the long-standing fashion rule is only to wear one bright thing at a time, the latest color blocking trend throws all those rules out the window!
Since I did mix two very bright colors, I decided to stick with a nude pair of pumps and purse. I didn’t want to add any more color as then people would even know where to look when seeing my outfit. While color is good, I think a color explosion might be too much. Even for me. 🙂
I did throw in one more tiny color though: minty green. I’ve seen it everywhere this spring and just wanted a little touch of it here. The belt (although it’s hard to see) and necklace are both in this lovely contrasting color. I actually think the cooler tones of the mint might tone down the rest of the outfit just a bit…
Oh, and one more note, I really want to apologize in advance if I haven’t been able to visit your blogs as much recently. I’m completely slammed with wedding stuff. If it’s not visiting with vendors or going to private dance lessons, it’s figuring out table assignments and DIY-ing my wedding programs and menus. And not to mention, I had to re-book a new photographer (new engagement photo session this Thursday!). Here I was thinking a wedding planner was going to make things easier. Unfortunately, all these details are things only I can take care of! Thank goodness this craziness is all going to be over in 3 weeks. 🙂
P.S. In case you missed it:
- Color Brigade Vol 14 – I’m getting so inspired by the leopard print looks this week!

This color combo is fantastic and the heels are fierce! Make sure to read that fierce in a Tyra voice and do the finger snap, too 🙂
I love that we are being encouraged to go bright and go bold with more than just one piece now. It makes getting dressed even more fun!
I will be sending good wishes your way as you finalize the wedding. And just think, in three weeks you will have yourself a brand spanking new hubby!!

This is definitely bold but you pull it off so well! I'm going to try and find bold pieces to mix, but my closet isn't as pretty as yours! And good luck with all the planning, I can only imagine how busy you must be!

I'm loving all the color, and you were so right to leave the accessories nude.
Good luck on all the wedding planning. It will be so weird once you are back from your honeymoon and you have all this new time on your hands. I found I was bored after mine!

Sorry to hear about all the craziness with your wedding – you had to book a new photographer? How on earth did you find one with such short notice? I know here in St. Louis you'd be pretty much SOL – all the photogs book up SO quickly here!
Kileen says
I thought I'd be SOL too but thank goodness I was able to get another one.
And a very highly recommended one at that! I'm taking it as a good sign.

Kileen, you are right on with your "color blocking with bold colors and keeping the shoes and bag neutral" theory! That's exactly the way i would wear it too in order to avoid a "color explosion"!
And don't worry about not being able to comment and look at our blogs too much, I think we all understand that you have a lot going on right now with your wedding and we're all excited for you!
