One of my favorite things of cooler weather is the ability to wear boots! From ankle boots, riding boots, over the knee boots, and even rain boots, I love them all! I wanted to share a little roundup of some of my favorite styles and how I pair them with different outfits all season long.
As you can tell from all the ankle boots I have, they’re probably my favorite kind of boots. They’re super easy to slip on, usually easy to walk in, and still give me a bit of height as I typically choose styles that have a bit of a heel. Also given the fact that I live in Texas and have a more mild winter, I can get away with wearing them for longer throughout the year (I usually don’t pack them away until April!). Given that I have short legs, I usually look for a pair that is angled downwards in the front to slightly elongate the legs instead of cutting them off at the ankle. My feet are also in between sizes and I’ll generally go a half size larger and add in a foot cushion for extra comfort.
Over-The-Knee Boots
My next favorite boot is the over-the-knee style. While I initially had trouble finding otk boots that didn’t end up being thigh-highs, I’ve finally found a couple pairs that work perfectly for my short legs. For this particular style, I generally choose a style with a minimal heel as the over-the-knee style is slightly edgier to begin with.
Riding Boots
For a more classic boot style, I can’t say no to a good ol’ riding boot. My favorite has always been the Frye Melissa Button Boot but recently I’ve been won over by the Tory Burch riding boots as well!
One-Off / Misc Boots
And finally, a couple of those “other” boot styles that I just adore and am so happy to have in my closet. First off, cowboy boots. I do live in Texas and you pretty much will see these worn year round so I consider them a necessity! Good thing is that you can pretty much wear them with anything — dress, jeans, shorts, it all works! These red Hunter rain boots are a recent addition, and I think everyone needs a big red Paddington bear boot to brighten up those dreary rainy days.
Although every year I resist the urge to buy more boots, I’ll always inevitably add a pair or two here or there. While browsing through the Yahoo! Style site the other day, I stumbled across this article featuring 21 Winter Boots from $27 to $2,000 and found it so interesting — I was also happy to see a few boots similar to mine in the lineup! And if you’re looking for some cute socks to go with those boots, don’t miss this gift guide. Socks make the perfect stocking stuffer and I love wearing a fun printed pair when I’m just lounging around the house!
