Breezy Cover-Up + Garnet Hill Review

It’s been forecasted to rain all week and while we’ve escaped some of the wet weather, it’s still been hot and humid nonetheless.  I wore this dress earlier this week on a day when I felt all my clothes were sticking to me and it was perfectly light and breezy!  The dress made of lightweight rayon and has a beautiful drape that just skims the body.  I love the subtle trapeze shape, high-low hem, and of course, that print!  This dress is technically marketed as a swim cover-up, but the fabric is fully opaque and thus perfect to even wear on its own.  I have no doubt it’ll be on regular rotation once the summer heat is here to stay!

This was my first time wearing Garnet Hill so I wanted to share my thoughts as far as sizing was concerned.  I’m wearing this dress in size XS, which is suggested to fit sizes 0-2.  I typically veer on the smaller side of that spectrum and did find that this dress ran about one size too big on me.  I had the hem shortened by about 3″ and the sides tapered in about 1″ on each side as well.  Off the shelf, it was nearly a maxi length as the back hem grazed at the tops of my ankles.   The spaghetti straps are adjustable (which actually made it nursing friendly for me), so if you’re about my height (5′ tall) and wanting a maxi dress option, the longer length would be perfect!
