Now that spring is here, one of my favorite holidays to kick off the new season is Easter! The weather has finally warmed up, the flowers are blooming, and it’s a great opportunity to spend time with the family! We always had a few special traditions when I was growing up so now that I have a family of my own, I love that I can pass on a few of these Easter activities to my little ones as well as make some memories that I know I’ll look back on and cherish! We may have gotten a bit of a head start on our Easter holiday but I just couldn’t wait to share some of our favorite ways to enjoy this holiday!
Easter Activities for the Family – Easter Baskets
Easter baskets (his + hers) | Kinder Joy eggs | Happy Easter Mouse book | Berenstein Bears Easter story | Easter eggs | similar Hello Kitty plush | Buzz Lightyear toy
I look forward to setting up their Easter baskets every year and it’s so much fun to pick out a few of their favorite things to treat them with for the holiday. I usually like to pick one book, a small toy, a simple DIY craft, and of course, chocolate! This year, I was so excited to see that Kinder Joy released Easter themed eggs and knew that it would be the treat to include in their Easter baskets!
Of course the Kinder Joy eggs were the first thing they saw when they each got their baskets and I just loved seeing the excitement on their faces! Kinder Joy is always a special treat and I think of them as twice the fun since they come with separately sealed halves – a treat side made of two creamy layers and a second half containing an exciting mystery toy! The delicious treat of Kinder Joy is made of two soft creamy layers – one milk-crème flavored and one cocoa flavored. Nestled into the creamy layers are two round, chocolate-covered wafer bites that are filled with cocoa cream. This is all to be eaten with the included spoon!
How cute are these Easter-themed toys? I get just as excited along with my kids as they open their Kinder Joy eggs and love seeing what toy is included! The toys are straightforward and I love that it helps foster their independence by letting them figure out how to put it together on their own. Mei’s toy was a little chick that she could put together and decorate with stickers while Dylan’s was a bunny paintbrush and stand with 2 watercolors included. The Kinder Joy Easter eggs ended up being a great treat and DIY craft in one!
Easter Activities for the Family – Easter Egg Hunt
Dylan and Mei both love hide-and-go-seek so they see this as the same game just with Easter eggs! We’ve done a few community egg hunts in the past but they tend to get a little crazy and overwhelming, so instead, the past couple of years we’ve opted to have a smaller hunt just among some friends in our own yard. I usually have one area where the eggs are pretty plain sight for the younger kids and another area where I put a concerted effort to actually find some good hiding spots for the older kids. We all have a great time and oftentimes they’ll ask for additional rounds of Easter egg hunts! 😂
Easter Activities for the Family – Easter Egg Painting
Every year, a few days leading up to Easter I like to spend the afternoon painting our Easter eggs! It’s a memory I distinctly remember doing as a child and something I know the kids have always enjoyed. We haven’t done our painting yet this year although I’ve already prepped the paint and dip supplies! I even stocked up on some glitter and am excited to see some fun designs this year!
What are some of your Easter holiday traditions? I want to share the love for Kinder so I’m giving away 6 of my own Easter-themed Kinder eggs in a fun giveaway — just enter through the widget below. Include some Kinder Joy in your celebration this year as their Easter-themed eggs are a double dose of fun and deliciousness!
