Almost a month ago (meant to get this up sooner — can’t believe how fast time flies!), we had a beautiful weekend of sunny weather. We took advantage of the winter break and took Dylan out to the Dallas Zoo! I had heard many stories from friends and co-workers about how much the Dallas Zoo has improved over the years and had many large areas where the animals could roam freely in terrain much like their natural habitat. Adrian and I had been meaning to check it out for awhile now and since Dylan has become more and more interested in animals lately (you should hear him make all the sounds!), we decided there was no better time to check it out. I called up my parents (who live about 30 minutes away) and we all spent a few hours out with the animals!
^^^ Our main destination was to see the Giants of the Savannah exhibit. Dylan has loved elephants ever since he was about 4 months (he would imitate the elephant trumpet sound on his jumperoo even back then and would always look at the elephant hanging in his pack-n-play mobile) so of course we took him first thing to see his favorite animal. He couldn’t get enough of climbing on the elephant statues either!

^^^ The safari animals were a hit and we spent almost 2 hours in that exhibit alone! By the time we made it through, Dylan was ready for a snack. 🙂
^^^ Dylan has been doing this really cute thing lately where if he’s eating or drinking something, he’ll want to “share” it with the things he sees around him. Usually it’s his toys that he feeds (if you see plastic trucks with yogurt on it, now you know why), so it was funny to see him giving the kangeroo statue some of his water too!
All in all, it was a great time and Dylan really enjoyed seeing his favorite animals. I can’t wait until he gets a little older and will be ready to ride the ponies. Oh, my heart.

I like zoos that transform into natural terrains. What a beautiful day you had. Would love to visit the Dallas zoo sometime. My parents used to live in Dallas, and we visited often. We still have friends there, and hope for a trip down there soon.
