My Favorite Way To Style A Sweater Dress

The weather has been absolutely nuts the past few days — I can’t even believe it’s mid-February and we’re literally buried in 4″ of snow!  It was so beautiful to wake up this morning to a blanket of beautiful white and the kids have been loving every minute making snow angels in the backyard. ❄  Meanwhile, I ventured out and lasted all of 5 minutes in the cold… 🤣 That being said, sweater season is still in full force.  So today I’m sharing how to style a sweater dress.

How To Style A Sweater Dress

Every year around this time, I tend to gravitate to lots of white (remember this look or this one from years past?).  I picked up this sweater dress from Amazon a few weeks ago and it’s been one of my favorite outfits!  I love the thicker cable knit material, and I can’t get over how soft and comfortable it is.  The fit is slightly oversized and slouchy, so to give it a little more shape, I belted it at the waist to create some hourglass curves!  I wanted a more relaxed look so I pulled the fabric out just slightly, which in turn also brings up the hemline to just a couple inches above the knee (ideal in my opinion if you’re petite and don’t want to look like you’re drowning in fabric!).  This particular sweater dress has the added bonus of a curved hemline, which I love for creating the illusion of longer legs — much needed if you’re like me and only 5′ tall!

Hats are hands-down my favorite way to dress up an outfit!  I love wearing dresses as they’re as easy “one-and-done” outfit solution, but sometimes it just looks a little… basic?  I picked up this fedora hat a few months ago and I absolutely LOVE the style!  It’s a bit of a splurge, but I just love the medium-size brim and the bow on the side gives it that effortlessly classy yet feminine vibe.  I did find a super similar option that’s been everywhere on Instagram lately that’s on sale right now for 50% off and comes in 3 easy-to-pair colors!

And finally, you guys know I love my designer purchases but I decided to take a chance on this cute “shopper tote” from the latest Amazon Drop collection!  I love the unique handle style and it’s actually super convenient when I’m on the go with kids and can loop this bag on my arm.  It’s surprisingly spacious as I probably overload with my cell phone, wallet, mini makeup kit, and all sorts of receipts from when I’m out running errands.  I love that everything is so easily accessible and visible inside the tote, plus it even flattens so it’ll be a great bag for travel!
