I haven’t done a Friend Friday post in awhile, but I really liked this week’s questions centering around reader connectedness. So here we go!
1. How important do you think reader connectedness is to the success of your blog?
Reader connectedness is the key reason I started my blog and probably the primary determining factor for the longevity of my blog. For me, I didn’t even start my blog until I realized that there was a petite community out there! I had been tempted in the past to start a blog, but the thought of being just a lonely fish in a big pond seemed daunting to me. It was only after I found AlterationsNeeded and saw that there was a group of people out there that I could relate to (and who hopefully could relate to me) that I finally pulled the trigger and started my own blog. So to me, reader connectedness and belonging in a blogging community means everything to me!
2. What do you do to draw readers in and create that writer-reader bond?
I try to create unique outfit posts that show my sense of style and hopefully inspire other people out there looking for fashion inspirations. Additionally, it can be tough finding petite-friendly clothes out there as well as figuring out how to dress to flatter a small frame, so I try to feature items that have worked for me. I try to create the bond sharing bits of myself and my life in my posts as well as by responding to as many comments as I can. I truly enjoy every comment that I receive from my readers and I’m always amazed at the kindness I’ve received from the blogging community!
3. What is one way you could improve this connection?
Twitter is definitely the best way to connect with me as you will most likely get a response within 5 minutes. My hope is to have more of my blog readers connect with me via twitter as I love the two-way conversations! I also have a Formspring and hope people who want to ask me questions will feel free to post there as well. Hopefully as my blog grows, I can venture into BlogTV as well to have real-time chats with my readers!
4. Is there a blogger you think does a great job creating that writer-reader bond? Why?
I have so many role models out there! All those who create wonderful blog content and take the time to respond to readers get my utmost respect. I know that blogging does take quite a bit of time, but having a personal connection with your readers is key to keeping them loyal to your blog. That’s why I really do try and reply to comments as much as I can. I love all of you guys!
5. What do you do to cultivate new readers? How do you get them to
your site in the first place?
Periodically, I try and discover new blogs out there. For the blogs that really catch my attention, I subscribe to them in my Google Reader and leave meaningful comments with a link to my blog at the very end. This has usually worked in helping them to at least check out my blog and if I’m lucky, leave a comment as well.
Please be sure to check out ModlyChic for all the other Friend Friday responses!

Awe you look super cute Kileen! AlterationsNeeded and ExtraPetite were the reasons why I started my blog!
AN definitely is the petite blogger pioneer!! 🙂
Love the bright blue and brown pairing. It's a great combo for this time of year.
I started my blog awhile ago and discovered this petite blogging community by accident. It's so nice to give and get feedback. I think that's the best part of this whole experience, plus making online friends that I wouldn't have otherwise!
great post!! i read a few more of the friend friday posts about this topic and it's such a good one.

Kileen, I think you look amazing in royal blue. You should wear it more often!!! 😀
Great answers to those questions. Twitter is definitely one of the best ways to keep in touch with your readers. : )
i really love the chocolate brown jacket over the royal blue. i would've never thought these two colors would match so well together!
i really loved your response to the question about sustaining blogger-reader relationships. Kileen, i think you do a great job responding to all of the comments! i am so grateful that you stopped by my blog to say hi. i really enjoy your outfit posts!
Great outfit and I love the belt! It reminds me that I need to start wearing my animal print one more!
I enjoy reading your answers to this week's FF questions. Readers make such a difference on a blog and it shows how you connect to them just by reading comments or supporting other blogs.
As much as I'd like Twitter, I don't have the time nor the means to keep up with it yet. So kudos to you for doing the whole Twitter thing! =)
I really love your brown leather jacket! And you're right to reply to as many comments as you can to stay connected with your readers!
