Many of you requested that you were interested in haul posts, so here we go! I had the day off today in remembrance of MLK, so I took the rare opportunity today and did some brick-and-mortar shopping at the mall today. All purchases made at Northpark Mall, in case you’re local. 🙂
Forever 21:

Forever 21 Drawstring Utility Jacket – wearing size S (buy) |
My first stop was at Forever 21, where I found a cute utility jacket with removable zipper hood (the hood is definitely coming off). I love that it hits right above the hips so it doesn’t overwhelm a petite frame. The drawstring waist give it a nice bit of shape and the pockets were perfectly placed so as not to look awkward or bulky.

Forever 21 Buffalo Plaid Sequined Shirt – wearing size S (sold out online, similar – rhinestones look removable, similar) |
The next item I found was this buffalo plaid sequined shirt. I apologize for the poor lighting in the photo as I actually took the picture late at night after I realized I didn’t snap a fitting room picture. Buffalo plaid has been a print that I’ve really grown fond of this season and I can imagine pairing this shirt with jeans, skirts, vests, and layered under just about everything!
H&M:

H&M Chiffon Dress – wearing size 4 (buy, similar 1-shoulder option) |
I found this taupe chiffon dress and think it would be the perfect dress for both work and play once the weather gets a bit warmer. The front is a little bit low cut so for work I would consider layering a matching camisole underneath (I highly recommend Wacoal camis and the cappuccino color looks promising).
I’ve also been wanting to add some more casual sweaters to my wardrobe and this one really caught my eye. I love the waffle knit and the easy, casual drape. I can wear it slightly off the shoulder on weekends and normal for work. It would be perfect layered under scarves and even my fur snood!
Nordstrom:

rag & bone Skinny Jeans in Kensington – wearing size 24 (my typical size), hem rolled under about 3″ (buy) |
My last stop was into Nordstrom as I was looking for a pair of black jeans. And while I tried on 5 differnet pairs black jeans with no luck, I did end up really loving these rag & bone skinny jeans! This was my first experience with this brand and I can definitely say that the fit is amazing. I have yet to see how it holds up for a full day of wear but I’m loving the slim stretchy fit and the fact that it makes my short legs a little less chunky.
I hope you enjoy my first haul post! If you want more live updates of my hauls, follow me on Instagram.

P.S. In case you missed it:
- Equestrian Chic – Sporting my first pair of cowboy boots!
Love the dress and sweater.
Looks like a fun day of shopping! 🙂 I really like that dress with the ruffle detail, it's beautiful 🙂

Hi Kileen,
I'm loving the utility jacket you picked up from F21. I saw one at F21 back in October 2013 when I was in Hawaii. I should have purchased it then because when I came back to the Bay Area, I wasn't able to find my size at the store nor could I find the jacket online.
Also, loving the rag and bone jeans. I don't have experience with this brand either. Did Nordstrom hem the pants for you free of charge?
Great funds! I love the f21 jacket. Please do let us know how the jeans are after a days worth of wear/bends. I'm on the denim hunt. (:
I don't have a Nordstrom's card so unfortunately I don't get the free alterations. I'm planning on doing alterations myself as I like to keep the original hem and it's not too difficult.
will do! wearing them today. 🙂
I didn't know you need a Nordstrom's card for free alterations? I purchased 7's in the past and they hemmed it for me with no cost. Anyway, I wish I knew how to do alterations on my own (like you).
Can't wait to hear your review on the jeans after a days worth of wear.
oh really?! i didn't realize they did alterations if you didn't have a Nordies card. I'll have to remember that for the future. the alterations are pretty simple though so I'll see about posting a tutorial when I get around to doing it (hopefully this weekend as long as something doesn't come up).
and i'm wearing the jeans today so we'll see how they do!
I know it's been almost a year since this post, but in case other petite mothers-to-be stumble across this, as I did, in their search for cribs, I thought I'd share another solution. I think we'll be buying a Baby's Dream crib with a Safety Gate. The top portion of these cribs fold down. It's not the same as the now-banned drop side crib. Instead, it's just a 9 inch portion that safely folds down. I've read lots of great reviews. There are other brands with a similar feature, but Baby's Dream seems to have the most options. http://www.babysdream.com/SafetyGate.aspx
thank you so much for sharing!! this sounds like a great option.
I love the utility jacket!
Vessi Petite
Love that sweater and dress from H&M!
This blog entry was SO helpful for me – thank you!! We ended up going w/ the Babyletto Hudson because my sister's hand-me-down drop-down crib was too tall for me, plus I was worried about the drop rail, despite the fact that we had stabilized it. Just wanted to mention one thing – your measurement for the Storkcraft Tuscany crib is incorrect. 33" is the width, not the height, so that one wouldn't work particularly well for a short mom. Just FYI!
oh good to know! I'll update my post. Thank you so much!
I am 4'11" and am using a Pack n Play. When the little guy gets too big for it, we're going to cut the legs off of the crib and hope for the best.
Even though it's been a year since this post, your suggestions are really helpful in searching for cribs. I suppose you probably won't be doing an update on cribs for petite moms as you'll probably be using Dylan's old crib for baby girl.
I actually have a family friend who is giving us their crib to use for baby #2. It's not petite-friendly at all so I'll need to use a stepstool with it, but you can't pass up free. Dylan isn't climbing out of his crib and loves sleeping in it (and it transitions to a toddler bed) so for now we're keeping him in that as it's just easier not having to deal with a wandering toddler in the middle of the night. 🙂
I did recently discover an additional petite-friendly crib (4" shorter than normal crib height!) from Pottery Barn that's super cute if you're interested: http://rstyle.me/cz-n/qbcmiwkvw
Good luck with everything!
