One of my big New Year’s resolutions this year is to eat out less often and prepare more home-cooked meals. Especially towards the end of last year, we started getting into the habit of eating out 3-4 times a week and it took a toll on our waistlines and our budgets. My goal this year is to limit eating out to just once a week and to get a few new recipes under my belt that I can whip up in under 30 minutes even on the busiest of days.
Since meal planning is not my strong suit (I’ve tried it multiple times before and I just can’t stick with it) and grocery shopping is soon going to be difficult when my newborn arrives, I decided to check out a food subscription service from HelloFresh! I learned about them after receiving a $40 voucher in the mail. I checked out their website and liked the variety of global flavors in their weekly recipes (Adrian gets tired of my Chinese food cooking now and then).
The recipes looked simple with ingredients that I could find at my grocery store if I wanted to prepare the meal again on my own, and I loved the fact that everything took 35 minutes or less from start to finish (with a difficulty level of easy for every recipe that I’ve seen too!).
With each weekly box, there are 5 meals and you are given the choice to select 3 (there is both a classic box as well as veggie box option). The package is arrives in a styrofoam cooler with all meats in vacuum-sealed bags and ingredients for each recipe divided into separate plastic bags.
The veggies are as fresh as what I find at my grocery store and everything stayed chilled in the box upon opening.

Every meal has been incredibly delicious and definitely like something you might find at a nice restaurant. I personally couldn’t believe how quick and easy both the Korean Beef and Walnut Crusted Salmon were to make and they’re definitely new go-to recipes that I am already planning on re-making again and again!HelloFresh has a super flexible subscription setup where you can pause your delivery at any time. The recipes for the upcoming week are sent 7 days before to allow you time to decide your meal choices or if you want to skip the week altogether. Package options include meal for 4 people (making each meal $10.75 per person) or 2 people ($11.50 per person), including shipping. We definitely spend more per person whenever we eat out and I love the fact that we get to try out new recipes that are chef-tested and recommended!
For anyone interested in checking out HelloFresh, get $40 off your first subscription box with code UEB32P. I hope you’ll give it a try and join me in healthy eating at home for 2015!

Sounds like a very useful food subscription plan for busy women and good to work with receipes that took less than an hour to prepare!
