The Importance Of The Power Dress:
I work in a young start-up company and while casual attire is a nice side perk in many regards, I actually make the conscious decision to dress it up on most days (even if it’s just with a simple pair of heels!). For me, it’s about mindset. When I dress well, I’ve noticed that there’s a boost in my confidence, a strength in my body language, and simply put, a shift in how I present myself. There isn’t a week that goes by where I’m not meeting new people in the office and I’ll always remember a tip I received back in college: never under-estimate the impact of a first impression. And while I don’t feel like we necessarily need to suit up on a daily basis, having a few pieces in our wardrobe that are business professional and make us feel like a million bucks are a must!

I love that dress. It epitomizes the concept that basic and classic doesn’t have to be boring.
While I have worked in casual offices before, I have too much fun with my wardrobe to not think about looking cute. Sure there were days I wouldn’t want to bother and threw on jeans and a tee, but that gets boring fast. So many other options out there. It’s fun to dress up.

i totally agree with this! in my admin job at the hospital i could wear scrubs or dress up and i chose the latter. it’s all about mindset!
