Recently a 99 Ranch Market Asian supermarket opened up here in Dallas and I went to go check it out cause a family friend had told me that they carry drugstore asian products. I was super surprised to find all sorts of Japanese toiletries that I’d never seen or heard of before by brands like Juju Cosmetics, Mandom Beauty, and Lucido. The only exception was Shiseido. I took advantage of the opportunity and tried out a few items. I’ve now used these products for a couple weeks now and have news to report! See my review of each item below. 🙂
|So many Japanese skin products I’ve never seen before!
<3 99 Ranch. 🙂
- Mandom Beauty Barrier Repair Baby Moist Milk (price: $12-$14)
This is by far the all-star product out of all the items that I bought. I apply this product after I finish washing my face and it does an amazing job of helping my skin retain moisture like I’ve never felt before. Used on its own, you cannot tell a difference. However, layered with additional products, this product is incredible. It really helps the other products that are applied afterward really penetrate into your skin. My skin has never felt so moisturized and it almost does remind me of baby’s skin! I have had no negative reactions to this product but have only noticed that my skin is smoother and has less fine lines. Simply amazing and so affordable!

- Juju Cosmetics Aqua Moist Moisturizing Lotion (cost: $15-18)
I had originally bought this product hoping that it would be similar to the Hado Lobo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion that I’ve read about. I wanted the bounciness that I see in these videos!
I did experience a slight bounciness, but the overall effects of the lotion weren’t anything special. The toner did help moisturize my skin a bit, but it wasn’t anything like the Mandom Beauty Baby Moist Milk that I had tried previously. I could see this toner as being a good option in the summer months when I don’t want to layer anything heavy on my face.

- Juju Cosmetics Aqua Moist Moisture Washing Foam (cost: $6-9)
This product was another all-star! I was skeptical at first when I used this product because the soap is a foam — no graininess, no creaminess, just foamy. I didn’t feel like I was cleaning anything off of my face. However, when I then used a cottonball to apply my toner after this product, I noticed that there was absolutely no makeup on cottonball! I also recently invested in a Clarisonic Mia and use noticed that this product really seems to clean out my pores completely and leave me feeling super clean. The best part is that my skin doesn’t feel tight or dry afterward, which is no small feat considering I have some of the driest skin out of everyone I know. The product does contain hyaluronic acid and provides a super saturated amount of moisturizing liquid to your face while cleansing. I will definitely be swapping out my current cleanser for this one.
- Lucido Designing Aqua Hair Curl Lotion <Airy> (cost: $9)
I first learned of this product after watching xppinkx’s YouTube describing this product. I also have the hardest time curling my hair as the curls do not last past a couple hours at best. I saw that this product claimed to hold your curls in place all day long and I figured that given the price, it wasn’t a lot to invest to try it out. After using it a couple times, I have to admit that the product really does work. I have been able to keep my curls in place for the entire day. I spray my hair very liberally with this product before curling and have noticed that I don’t have to work as hard to get my hair to curl as stay curled. This product was also very light and did not make my hair stiff or crunchy – a problem I’ve had with some hairsprays. I also have very fine hair and am constantly worried about products weighing it down, but this product was light enough that my hair still kept its body and volume. I have absolutely no complaints from this product and will definitely keep on purchasing!

- Shiseido Fitit Aquair Moist Hair Pack Naoshi Essence (cost: $12)
The last item that I purchased was this hair essence spray from Shiseido. I actually had no idea that Shiseido even had a hair care line, but there was quite an extensive lineup at 99 Ranch. This product claims to help “reset” your hair prior to styling. My main motivation to try this product was that I wanted something to use to “reset” my hair between when I straighten it and when I curl it. I’ve tried using this spray for that purpose, and I have to say that it didn’t really do much. I had straightened my hair the previous day and tried curling my hair the next and my hair just refused to curl. The only thing I have noticed that this product does really well is that it removes the kinks in my hair from when I have it tied up in a ponytail. I can let my hair down, spray this product liberally all around, and within about 20 minutes my hair is kink free! I’ll continue using this product and see if I can find any other good uses for it, but at the moment it’s not good enough for me to repurchase.
