I got my first back-to-school email last week and I was like “whoa, wait, what? Didn’t summer just start?” I can’t believe it’s already the end of July and school will be starting up here in under a month! Dylan just graduated from Kindergarten last year and is going into Primer this upcoming school year (a transitional grade between Kindergarten and 1st grade offered for those born between March and August, and want a little extra time to develop socially / emotionally while not being held back academically). I can’t believe that he’ll be moving into the Lower School building and will be amongst all the older kids now — can I just say that I think I’m more nervous than he is? At the same time, Mei will also be moving into Preschool at her Montessori school and I’m learning to accept that she is no longer a toddler anymore! How did time go by so fast?
As we start to get ready to tackle the new school year, one of my favorite parts is going back-to-school shopping! Carter’s has always been a go-to brand for us as not only are their styles super cute, but they are also incredibly durable and withstand lots of rounds through the wash while still looking like new. As Dylan was getting older, part of me was getting scared thinking that he’d be outgrowing one of our favorite kids’ clothing brands. BUT! Dylan loves his graphic tees and we couldn’t pass up this “I eat pizza like a boss” tee as it sums up Dylan in a nutshell! It’s been his new favorite shirt and I swear I’m literally washing it 3 times a week cause he’s always asking to wear it! The fabric is super soft and lightweight — a great option for those remaining hot days of summer and perfect for layering when the weather cools down too. And I just can’t get enough of the cuteness with Mei’s outfit! First, these shoes. I mean, I wish they came in my size! I love the rainbow-colored straps and the fact that they’re easily slipped on and off with a zipper entry in the back. Carter’s always has pieces that are right on trend and I instantly noticed this floral piece next. I initially thought it was a skirt but quickly realized that it actually comes with built-in shorts underneath and was instantly sold! All too often I’m having to put shorts under Mei’s skirts whenever I dress her for school so that she won’t have any issues on the playground climbing or going down slides. This skort was the answer to my problems and LOVE that Carter’s creates styles that are not only stylish but also functional! Mei loves her skirts so I’m picking it up in pink and navy too!

My little Mei looks up to her brother so much and I love watching their relationship grow. Your kids are just the cutest in their Carter’s outfits! I can’t believe the school year is coming up so soon. My son is starting preschool in September after he turns 2 and I’m excited but also a little nervous. I know he’s going to love it I’m just not sure how I’ll handle the amount of time away!

my son started school when he turned 2 too and he was definitely ok while i was the emotional wreck, lol. i didn’t think it would be a big deal but after dropping him off i ended up crying in the car for a good 10 minutes! they grow up too fast.
