Sometimes you just have those nights when you’ve been up too late or you’re tossing and turning. Either way, on nights like that, it’s gonna be a rough morning! If that has ever happened to you, have you found yourself wondering how to look more awake the next morning?
I’m a bit of a night owl and will admit I have more of those kinds of nights than I’d like to admit. But, I’m also a big beauty junkie so I’ve found some amazing products that still help me look like I got a full night’s rest — and none of them are makeup!
Want to know how to look more awake in the morning? Then keep reading for 3 tricks that are easy, effective, and will put that pep back in your skin before you head out the door!
How to Look More Awake in the Morning Without Makeup
TIP 1: Prevent Dark Circles With An Overnight Eye Mask
VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Mask (also on Amazon!)
I leave a box of these VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Masks on my nightstand and apply if I know it’s a late night. Nothing like doing a little pre-emptive work while you’re sleeping right? 😉 Dark circles have been a long-standing problem for me and while I’ve tried a variety of different creams, nothing works better than these masks!
The VIIcode Oxygen Eye Masks are formulated with grapeseed oil to remove free radicals, seaweed to restore hydration, and white tea for keeping fine lines/wrinkles at bay. My undereye area feels incredibly moisturized and noticeably brighter in the morning. Which was surprising because it really didn’t feel like I did any work!
TIP 2: Reduce Puffiness With A Cold Compress
I saw this product on another beauty influencer that I follow on Instagram and it’s one of my favorite purchases. The mask comes with 2 sides, one with gel beads and the other with a velvet lining, as well as straps that secure in the back to keep the mask in place while in use. I keep this mask in my freezer and grab in the morning when I need a quick wake-up — while the recommended way is to place the velvet side against the skin, I actually prefer using it with the gel side facing my face as I love the feeling of the cool beads!
I leave the mask on for at least 15 minutes while I’m preparing breakfast for the kids, and I can definitely notice less puffiness especially around my cheeks when I take it off!
TIP 3: Get The Circulation Going With A Face Roller
It Cosmetics Face & Neck Citrine Roller
Face rolling has kinda become trendy in the last couple of years. But, while I was a bit skeptical at first, I decided to try it out for myself. And After doing face rolling twice a day for a few months, I realized that it does make a difference!
Right now, I use this face and neck roller from It Cosmetics because the citrine stone is actually meant to boost mental clarity and focus. Plus the roller size is also not as big as some of the others I’ve tried. Allowing it to work perfectly on all contours of my face!
It’s especially important to only roll in an upwards direction to counteract gravity. As well, I try to run the roller a few extra times around the outsides of my eyes to really tighten the skin in that area and wake it up! I finish by just pressing the roller right on my undereye area (no more rolling at this point) and the cool stone again helps remove any other signs of puffiness.

I hope you found these tips and tricks on how to look more awake helpful. Especially on those days when you may not have gotten as much sleep as you need.
Let me know in a comment if you’ve tried any of these products before or if you have recommendations of your own that I missed!
Man oh man do I need this (3.5 year old & 14 month old means no sleep, ever)! Definitely going to try those overnight under-eye masks to tackle these dark circles I’ve rocking lately!
the undereye masks are little miracle workers!
Curling my lashes is another great tip on how to look more awake without make up, but cold masks are awesome too
yes, the eyelash curler is definitely key! I’m trying to grow my short lashes out right now after having used extensions for a long time so I forget about the eyelash curler these days! thanks so much for the reminder!

Such great tips! I do all of these (under eye masks, cold compress, and cold rolling, plus drinking tons of water) and they make SUCH a difference! I travel often and am usually jet lagged to some degree, so I wish I could’ve found this post years sooner and saved myself from so much experimentation to find what really works!
ah yes, definitely water!!
I LOVE face rollers – I always keep mine handy when I travel and use on the plane! Such great tips!

I love this. I have never been the kind of girl to want to wear makeup every day, but I am so tired of always looking so tired! I’m going to have to implement some of this into my routine now! I have never heard of a face roller but that definitely looks interesting.
I am obsessed with my face roller!!
xoxo Sarah
I need to try out that face compress! I have a roller already and I’m a huge fan of eye patches. Such a great post with such good info!
Love love love all these finds. I have the ice roller for my face and I’m obsessed. It was so helpful too after a microneedling appt.
These are really great tips! I could use all the help as a mom haha. I’ve never tried a roller, but I want to!
This looks like a great self-care day as well! Never tried a jade roller or mask in the same routine but will try this if it will make me look more awake :)!
Those under-eye masks are to DIE FOR. I got them a few years ago and loved them so much. I definitely noticed a difference and I have seriously dark circles!
I could totally go for that cold compress right now. It looks like it would help with allergy relief in addition to looking more awake. I have an ice roller that I use on my face sometimes and when allergies are bothering my eyes it feels really good to roll the ice roller around them. 🙂
I really want to try a faceroller 🙂
