Remember when I admitted that I spent wayyy too much money on Amrita Singh jewelry when it was on sale at HauteLook? Well, my order finally came in!! While my bank account is seriously hurting this month (seriously, why did they offer both Rebecca Minkoff and Amrita Singh sales in the same month?!), I’m totally in love. Every piece is absolutely lovely and I had a hard time deciding which piece to wear first! Fortunately, Vicky rescued me from what would’ve been hours of indecision and requested that I show the pink Shelter Island necklace first.
The statement necklace really dresses up the otherwise basic outfit. I was initially afraid that these necklaces would be too big, but they really are the perfect size and something that even works well for us petites out there!
Meanwhile, I’ve recently discovered a little trick to create some volume in my hair when teasing: spray each section with hairspray first. When I went to have a hair run-through for my wedding, I noticed my stylist doing this little trick and boy did my fine, limp hair tease up into a big rat’s nest. I had to try it out for myself this morning when putting my hair up in a bun, and it seriously worked like a charm! Now I just gotta shampoo through this hairball on my head. 🙂

P.S. In case you missed it:

The necklace looks lovely! I need to beef up my hair too, it's always so flat even when I put volumizing mousse in it…LOL. But I have try that teasing technique with hair spray. =)
Oh Kileen. Love the pink color of the necklace! Thank you so much for showing it to us! My next bag hunt would be a Rebecca Minkoff MAC. If you see it on sample sale, please let me know!
What on earth is the thing that you are standing next to?
Love the brightness of that skirt! It looks great on you…

haha, i saw this pipe thing coming out of the ground and i had to take a picture next to it! i think it's just a pipe there for decoration… random, huh? 🙂
and yes, i will definitely keep an eye out for a Minkoff MAC!
love the necklace and great outfit!
i love your shoes,

Just Better Together
The necklace is so beautiful! It goes really well with the bright purple skirt!
The necklace looks lovely, Kileen. Thanks for showing us. I am loving your outdoor photos for various locations. Can't wait to see the rest of your order.
Love that pink skirt, necklace, purse and well, everything! Great color combo!

I love the statement necklace!
Love the outfit and necklace together – especially against the aqua house in the background! A very visually powerful photo!
I'm so glad your Amrita Singh necklace was exactly what you wanted, especially since I HATE mine. I also bought it at the HauteLook sale and it is huge and cheap looking. The orange beads are terribly plasticky and the fake brass looks pretty tacky. I guess some items from the sale were hits and some were misses. I used a credit on it so it's not a huge loss but I was so disappointed.
The proportions of that pink pencil skirt with the sweater are perfect on you. Another great outfit!
awww, i'm so sorry that your necklace didn't work out!! i actually purchased a coral Nello necklace too (not sure if it's what you bought) and really love it. hopefully you can make it work for you. :
The necklace is gorgeous on you. What a great designer.
My Heart Blogged
Purple and rust pair so well together! But is there any color that wont look awesome with that pencil skirt?
you always make a statement with your outfits! is that your house in the background? either way, its gorgeous.
Yay! That necklace is so pretty on you. The shade, the shape, the size. Everything!
PS: Thanks for the hair tip, I'm totally going to try it tomorrow.
Brilliant combination of colors. And the fabrics are gorgeous together.
Oh the necklace is so gorgeous!! I love the unique stone shapes Amrita Singh uses. They are unexpected, yet always classically beautiful at the same time. Perfect statement piece.
Nope, not my house. I just saw this house, loved the color, and took my picture in front of it. 🙂

I always love that skirt on you and that necklace is just gorgeous!!
Love this outfit. I wouldn't have thought of mixing those two colors! Love the statement necklace, I'm in the market for a few myself. I can never find one that looks right on me.
Make sure you brush your hair out before you wash it! It's a painful and very difficult process but it makes washing so much easier, as well as drying after.
Fab! Love the pop of the pink skirt against the brown…Very nice!

oh thank you for the tip! i used a super heavy conditioner too and it
really helped. 🙂
that necklace is too fabulous for words
i am sure you will get so much wear out of it
lol @ spraying and teasing hair.
i learned that trick on someone's blog.
i only do it for a blogger bun, but it works great… except of course trying to get the comb through when i take the bun down 🙂
Brown and pink is good together 🙂
That necklace is stunning. You look fab!

sooooo cute! i think everytime you wear that skirt i love it even more. such a great pop of color to your outfit!
really nice outfit! ^
ohh kileen the amrita singh necklace is STUNNING on you!!!
I am really good at buying statement necklaces, not so much at wearing them! I get nervous!
Also – you look lovely! I love the tucked in sweater, I would never think to do that.
Kileen,
I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of your ability to take your own photos! They're not just simple point and shoot either, they're really artistic, and with so many different angles. do ppl stare at you? lol.
thanks!! i take my pictures early in the morning before i head to work.
and while there are a few people who look at me, most people are too busy
trying to get to work to really care and/or ask questions. 🙂
Wow, I love this, and that necklace totally did dress it up! You know, I recognize this skirt from Kendi Everyday!! Isn't that funny? I think she has this skirt. 🙂
Pretty look Kileen!
Oh I didn't realize Kendi had this shirt! I'm gonna have to see how she styled it now! 🙂

How does that J Crew skirt wash? Is it dry clean only? Does it wrinkle?
i have yet to wash it but i will most likely be dry cleaning it as i'm too
paranoid about my lack of washing skills that would mess up this skirt!
bummer. I was hoping you had some advice.
Do you have other pencil skirts that you have washed and or dry cleaned a few times that you love that do not wrinkle when you wear them?
I've had a lot of luck with my LOFT pencil skirts! i wear my ribbon
waistband pencil skirt all the time and sit for several hours all day in
it. the wrinkles don't last much longer than a few minutes after i stand up
and i love the quality!
My loft pencil skirt is almost the most annoying one I have. It is my khaki one. It wrinkles like crazy. It's a few years old. Maybe they are better now? thank you for your advice. (this is my khaki one http://scrapandrun.blogspot.com/2011/04/april-11.html)
