I’m a romantic at heart and details like scalloped edges and lace trim always seem to add the finishing feminine touch to any outfit. For today, I also combined several different textures — from fuzzy wool to ribbed knit to smooth neoprene — and I love how they come together to give a visually interesting and perfect-for-fall look!
It’s been quite a week so far. I’ve been working slightly longer hours the past couple days to make up for an unexpected day off I had to take on Monday. While it’s been good for me to catch up on work, I’ve also realized that Dylan really notices the less time that I’ve had to spend with him. Dylan has been great about sleeping through the night for awhile now but last night he woke up around midnight and from the other room I heard in the midst of his cries, “Mom… Up”. It nearly broke my heart. As I fumbled in the darkness to pick him up, I felt his little arms wrap around me. We rocked together in the glider and he just lay in my arms, not wanting to be nursed but just wanting to be held. As I watched his chest rise and fall, his tiny lips slightly open and his lashes resting softly against his cheeks, I relished this rare fleeting moment of just holding my baby in my arms as he slept. Just like the old days. My little boy is growing so fast and these days it seems like he is never stops moving; it was such a pure sweet moment that I never wanted to end. I may have only gotten 4 hours of sleep last night and missed my morning workout, but I will forever cherish that moment I had him cradled in my arms. It’s true when they say “the days are long, but the years are short.” I’m living it up as this boy’s mama.
