You wanna know a secret? You promise you won’t tell?
Ok, here goes. These blue suede shoes are my future wedding shoes (the wedding is in May 2011). That’s right, I will be wearing a white wedding dress, but there will be blue suede shoes underneath! Why, you ask? Well, as many of you know, there is an old saying that for good luck the bride needs to wear something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. These shoes are my something blue. ^_^
I tweeted these shoes the instant I got them in. At the time, someone asked me how I would pair blue suede shoes. While I do find that blue suede shoes can be a bit tricky, these are a few guidelines that might help:
- Wear something else blue in the outfit, and preferably not matching blue colored jeans as the shoes won’t stand out as much. Some ideas include a blue sweater, a blue ribbon sash, a blue pin, a denim jacket / blazer, or a blue hairpiece. Just not all at the same time. 🙂 Pick one and go with it. It will tie the outfit together and not make the shoes look like a red-headed stepchild. This is what I chose to do today. Here’s another sample look with a blue headband.
- Blue suede pairs beautifully with something all black or silver. With that in mind, here’s a sample look with some little black and silver dresses.
- Added as a pop of color with an all neutral outfit. Here’s a sample outfit consisting of a beige top, a gray blazer, and white pants.
- And of course, pick a similar colored dress and go monochromatic. Just make sure to wear lighter colored tights so that the outfit doesn’t look too dark or bottom-heavy.
Hope these looks gave you some inspiration to venture out and buy brown or black shoes! Let me know what you think of these sample styles. ^_^
