Nesting With HMK

Decorating our dresser :: adding colorful DIY paper flowers and these two ceramic bird pieces from HMK.

I’m starting to get into the nesting mode these days and wanted to add a few accents to the dresser our master bedroom.  Adrian has a minimalistic style (he hates having “stuff”) and tend to err on the careful side even when I get the urge to decorate.

During my first pregnancy, I went into nesting mode around this same time and started crafting away.  For the dresser, I wanted to add a bit of color to it so I ended up making these paper flower poppies that I added off to the side.  I don’t have a very good track record at keeping real plants alive so paper plants have since been my go-to.  For this second pregnancy, I’ve been on the hunt for little accents that I can add to our place here and there.  When I noticed these white ceramic decorations the other day at HMK, I knew that they’d be the perfect subtle addition to our dresser.  I love having a few of my favorite jewelry pieces out on display and these birds tie in perfectly with the floral theme of the flowers while still maintaining the simple, modern aesthetic (just as Adrian likes!).
