About 2 years ago we moved from a brand-new condo near the downtown area of Dallas to a much older house closer to the suburbs. Adrian and I have always loved a mid-century modern aesthetic and so while the homes in our new neighborhood were all much more established, we quickly found and fell in love with a home that was built just after the peak of the mid-century modern era. While the home did have some renovations done by the previous owner, there were also many aspects that still needed a bit of updating. One of our biggest complaints was that the space felt a bit dark, and as someone who loves a bright airy home, this was first on my to-do list to fix!
I set about tackling the master bedroom first as it’s a space that the whole family spends a ton of time in. Not only is a place of refuge where I get my shut-eye at the end of the day, but it’s also a place where the kids and I love to just hang out, snuggle, and have our dance parties in! The bedroom started off with an old dingy off-white carpet that Adrian and I have both talked about replacing ever since we first moved in.
We spent months researching different options and even visited several showrooms to get an idea of what would work best. When I stumbled across the Tarkett brand and their latest line of Progen floor tiles, I was sold. Not only were the faux wood designs absolutely beautiful with over 22 different high-definition options available, but I loved that they were so durable. The Tarkett Progen line is completely waterproof and has superior scratch resistance as well as indent resistance — we’ve actually scratched and dented other wood floors in our current and previous homes so this was so important to us! With two little kids now, having floors that could stand up to spilled water, resist scratches / dents, as well as temperature change and sunlight without any sort of warping or buckling (plus look beautiful!) was a total game changer for us.
Can you even believe that it gets better when it comes to installation? These planks actually don’t require any glue or grout to install or additional padding. Each tile simply clicks together! Sizing the tiles also doesn’t require any fancy power tools and a basic utility knife does the trick! If you are one for DIY projects, Tarkett Progen is an absolutely perfect choice and one of the easiest ways to update your home!
After the new Tarkett Progen flooring was installed, I couldn’t believe the dramatic difference it made! Not only was our entire bedroom brighter, but it felt like the whole space got a facelift! We’ve been enjoying our new floors now for two weeks and we have all been loving the change.
Added bonus: if your little ones love dance parties as much as we do, these wood floors make for busting some great moves! 😁
I’d love to know what you think of these ways to update your home! I’m currently planning to update the rest of the house with the same flooring and really make our house feel like new! Be sure to check out Tarkett for more details on their latest Progen flooring line.
