I have a quick recipe for you all today that is absolutely delicious and perfect for those quick weeknight meals when you need dinner on the table in 30 minutes or less! I love experimenting in the kitchen and one of our favorite meats to eat is actually lamb! I was recently diagnosed with gestational anemia and we’ve been adding more and more lamb to our meal rotation as it’s naturally high in iron and zinc in a way that is easily absorbed by the body. American Lamb is known for its quality, flavor, and tenderness, and with more than 82,000 family-owned sheep operations in nearly every U.S. state, American Lamb is local and available year round. The best part is that no artificial or synthetic growth hormones are used in any lamb production in the U.S., so I feel confident buying and feeding it to my family!
Lamb lends itself naturally to so many different global flavors but since I do mostly Chinese cooking at home, I wanted to share an easy recipe for some hoisin-marinated lamb stir-fry. It’s one of my go-to recipes and something that I whip up about every other week. It’s super simple and guaranteed to have your family gobbling it up (toddlers/kids included!).
^^ The recipe is easy-peasy and only requires a few basic ingredients besides the lamb that you’ll most likely already have on hand. While I use homemade hoisin sauce (recipe included below — I usually keep a jar of this stuff in the fridge at all times), you can certainly just use the store-bought kind as well.
^^ Mix together the lamb marinade in a separate bowl and slice up the lamb into small 1-2″ stir-fry pieces.
^^ I served our meal with sides of roasted sweet potatoes and cauliflower to round everything out.
^^ This meal is always a big hit with my family! Dylan is always excited to see the lamb stir-fry on the menu and gobbles it up the instant it hits the table. 🙂
- 1/3 cup hoisin sauce (see recipe below or use store-bought)
- 1/3 cup sliced green onions
- 3 T unseasoned rice vinegar
- 2 T minced garlic (love the NexTrend Garlic Twist for mincing!)
- 1 T honey
- 1/2 t salt
- 4-5 lb boneless leg of lamb, sliced
Hoisin Sauce (yields 1 cup)
- 3/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup almond butter
- 2 T honey
- 1 T + 1 t vinegar
- 1 T + 1 t sesame oil
- 1/4 t minced garlic
- 1/4 t red pepper flakes
- 1/8 t black pepper
I hope you’ll be inspired to give this recipe a try and let me know how you like it!
