The mom jean trend is back! And yes, they are cooler than ever. I never thought I’d be one to rock mom jeans but given that I LOVE high-rise jeans and as well as the more casual boyfriend jean, well, mom jeans soon became the natural next progression! Thankfully mom jeans aren’t the same as the frumpy design of the 90s, and I’ve personally been loving changing up my look with the new style. This pair I recently picked up from Abercrombie & Fitch, a store I actually haven’t shopped at since my early college years. I had no idea that Abercrombie offered jeans with short inseams, and surprisingly I have discovered so many more petite-friendly finds including tops / dresses that start in size XXS and denim starting in size 000! These jeans are definitely a must-buy but if you’re unsure about how to style them, I”m here to share with you my top 3 tips!
SHOP MOM JEAN TREND
Tuck In Your Top
Because mom jeans are a bit more of a relaxed fit, you want to make sure you maximize the length of the mom jean to elongate your legs. While I paired my jeans with a bodysuit, I would recommend any top that is more fitted so that it balances out the looser fit on bottom. Tuck your top in all around or just add in a slight front tuck — you’ll be amazed at how it just draws the eyes up and makes your legs look longer! Take advantage of the high rise as well to accentuate that waist and show off some curves!
Add Some Height With Heels
Heels have a way of making any simple look just a bit more glamorous, so opt for something with even just a little heel. Mules have been hitting it hard this season and this Dolce Vita pair that I recently picked up is my new obsession! The chunky heel makes them easy to walk in yet while still just amping up the look just a bit. Other cute shoe options include kitten heels and I also recently picked up a few pairs that feature the latest v-shaped vamp!
SHOP KITTEN HEELS / MULES
Add A Statement Belt
Finally, it’s all about statement belts right now and there’s no easier way to complete a look than with this simple accessory. The Gucci “double G” statement belt has been my go-to and while it is definitely an investment piece, this one that I’m styling here is actually a really great dupe! Because high-waisted mom jeans are great at creating curves and showing off that waist, add in that statement belt and really make it a look!
