In addition to the new beauty items that I picked up at the drugstore a few weeks ago, I also picked up quite a few things recently from Sephora. I’ve been getting back into makeup lately after having been stuck in a bit of a rut and these new beauties definitely have me excited about makeup and skincare again!
I had just run out of my previous nighttime moisturizer and while I loved how hydrated my skin felt from using it, I wanted something that provided some toning / firming as I’ve felt like my face has started looking a bit bloated lately (most likely due to the water I’m retaining now that I’ve hit the 40-week mark of pregnancy…). This moisturizer is actually an overnight mask so it’s on the richer side, but I find that it’s perfect for my super dry skin! I slather it on at night and find that it pretty much completely absorbs into my skin within 5 minutes — I haven’t had any issues with the product transferring to my pillow. The scent is very clean and fresh (reminds me of cucumbers actually) and personally I think it even helps me fall asleep at night! After almost 3 week of using this product every single night, I actually have noticed that my skin has felt more supple and I don’t see as much roundness in my face as I did before. Given the fact that I’ll soon be sleep-deprived taking care of a newborn, I’m definitely glad I have this cream to save me from looking as haggard as I know I’ll be feeling. The product is on the pricier side, but the tub is huge and no doubt will be lasting me a long while!
other products used:
face: hourglass primer, giorgio armani luminous silk foundation (shade 4),
cheeks: hourglass ambient light powder (radiant light)
blacktrack eyeliner, benefit they’re real mascara
lips: mac pro longwear lipstick (soft sell)
anastasia beverly hills dipbrow pomade
I’ve been filling in my brows using eyeshadow for years now, but I’ve had issues where the powder doesn’t last all day (especially through a sweaty crossfit or yoga workout). I had to play around with how to apply this pomade the first few times, but now that I have a technique figured out, I love it! For me, I apply the product using an angled synthetic brush (mine is from Seva Beauty but similar to this one) and after lightly dipping the brush into the tub, I swipe it first on the inside of the cap. Otherwise, I find that too much product will transfer initially to my brows and they end up looking a bit too “painted on. The pomade is the perfect mix of color and gel to allow me to fill in my brows as well as shape them into place. And although my brows are more of a black color naturally, I typically fill them in with a brown shade (I use this pomade in dark brown) as I find that it makes my face look less harsh and goes better with my warm undertones.
beautyblender sponge
This BeautyBlender sponge is perfect for smoothing out undereye concealer. The sponge will remove any excess product and it blends product all the little crevices in my eye without applying too much. My concealer doesn’t settle into the fine lines under my eyes and the sponge really helps make the result look natural!
too faced chocolate soleil bronzer
I’ve been using the same Benefit Hoola bronzer for several years now and was excited to finally hit pan earlier this year, This bronzer has just the right warmth to it (better than the Benefit one) and applies evenly over the hollows of my cheeks without a nice matte finish. My skin tone is between a NC20 – NC25 and I think this bronzer is perfect for those with fairer skin. There is a subtle chocolate scent to the packaging that I don’t notice after I apply the product to my face.
I use this brush for applying the Too Faced Chocolate bronzer and love how versatile it is! The bristles are soft and pliable, making even a light application of product simple to do. The retractable feature actually allows me the option to only open it partially if I want a more sturdy application of the bristles.

The black tea overnight mask sounds like such a great moisturising product with firming effects, awesome!
