Belt / Sash: Forever 21 belt (borrowed from shorts)
I love mustard for the fall season {I wear my mustard pants all too much} and so of course styling a mustard skirt is at the top of my list too. The one little caveat? My mustard skirt isn’t actually a skirt. It’s a dress with the top folded under! Although the dress actually converts into a skirt surprisingly well, there are usually lots of issues going on around the waistband area resulting from the dress being folded under — puckering of fabric, unclean seams…you get the idea. And so I had to get a little creative.
I made the dress/skirt more wearable by adding a sash {borrowed from a handy pair of shorts!} where the waistband would’ve been. Although the color doesn’t match exactly, it’s actually quite a nice transition color. And while a bow in the front is certainly not necessary, I decided to keep it there as it added a nice embellishment to the look.
And because I generally like to have at least 3 colors in my outfits {Color Brigade lady here!}, I added a little white flower pin to my hair. I going for that vintage-y look again, can’t you tell? 🙂

Gorgeous color combo!! The cameo is so pretty!
Oh, this is a lovely color combination! Love the combination of this skirt and the pumps. The pink top and sash are lovely touches to top off the look. Lovely outfit post, Kileen!

I love this color combo! And I like using a sash to define the waist- I'll have to try that with some dresses I want to make work as skirts 🙂

Hmm … I'm going to have to try converting one of my dresses into a skirt sometime soon, you pull it off so well. 🙂 Like the ladylike vibe you have going on here!

This is a colour combo I rarely see. It's nice!! Why don't you wear the dress and then just add the t-shirt on top instead of folding it?
The flower in your hair is the perfect addition! I love all the colors as usual Kileen.
The Gap top is actually really long (reaches past my hips) so I had to tuck it into the skirt somehow. It would've been too much fabric to have at the waist otherwise.
Kileen
Your close up picture is so beautiful, you look breath taking! Mustard and neutrals are perfect for fall!

You are so creative with your outfit combos! Thanks for showing me another way to wear this dress!
i actually have been meaning to pair it with chambray too like you did! 🙂
Love the colors and I'm still trying to figure out how your dress became a skirt! The mustards skirt/dress is such a pretty option to add mustard to the wardrobe instead of pants!
So cute Kileen- glad you are getting a lot of use out of the multi-purpose dress!!! The sash is adorable!
I love the pink and yellow together! I would have never thought to pair the two. Love it!
What a pretty color combo…you are the queen of versatility with your clothes!

You look absolutely adorable. This dress is getting so much wear out of it! I love it!
None of my dresses seem to transition into other things well… maybe I'm just not as skilled as you. Haha!
I must try more often, I suppose… because I always love your outfits when you do.
