I went digging through my closet last night for some new styling inspiration and came across this sleeveless top that I had purchased at Banana Republic almost 3 years ago {on clearance for $8! the tag was left on it, lol} but have never worn. It’s one of those tops that kinda fits weird on it’s own — it’s too low cut in the front and has weird poofiness in the rib cage area. But I decided I was gonna make this top work!
I fixed the low-cut neckline by layering it with a simple sequined cami and disguised the ribcage poofiness with a trusty waist belt. The medium thickness of this belt is perfect for keeping the extra fabric from looking too bunched up and the bright color provided just the right amount of “pop”. I was a little wary of adding the statement necklace on top of everything for fear of overwhelming the look, but decided that I loved the coral contrast too much to give it up. To make the necklace seem less out of place, I added a coral-ish colored wrap bracelet to tie everything together. I love how the outfit turned out and gave myself a pat on the back for finally putting a neglected closet item to work!

Kileen, your outfits always always do it for me. I love this complicated looking waist belt tie. Is it really complicated? I remember noticing a tutorial on it maybe? I'll go see if I made that up in a sec. Anyway, I definitely don't think there is too much going on at all with the belt and necklace–I think it works beautifully. I love your smokey eyes… No surprise there. I can see what you mean about it maybe being too dark for the office. Give us some date night photos and show us how you dress it then! 🙂

I really like the combination of colours here, the yellow belt works really well here. I find that the accessories make this outfit (though I would have gone for a size smaller necklace) and I absolutely love the bag.
