hair curled with the Sleep Styler – large (save 20% w/ code SS07)
Hello and happy Monday! I’ve been working on becoming more of a morning person but even on those days when I wake up early, it seems like it’s always a mad dash to get everyone out the door! From making / eating breakfast to getting the kids changed and ready, I’m usually last priority and scramble to put something on before throwing my hair up in a bun to head out the door. #momlife right?
I first heard about the Sleep Styler a couple months on Instagram during one of my late-night hooray-the-kids-finally-went-to-bed scrolls and was so intrigued by the idea of being able to style my hair in my sleep! I couldn’t believe the affordable price (under $30 for a pack!) and knew I had to give it a shot. So here is my Sleep Styler review!
Sleep Styler Review: What Is It?
Sleep Styler rollers – mini and large
save 20% with code SS07
The Sleep Styler is a set of patented, super absorbent foam rollers that allow you to dry and curl your hair at the same time. The rollers are made of super soft memory foam with a microfiber exterior that holds 4-5 times its weight in water. There are two sizes to choose from – mini and large.
Mini – 3″ long rollers with a 1.5″ diameter. Best suited for shorter hair between shoulder and mid-back or long hair that is fine. Don’t be fooled thinking this roller won’t work for longer hair (it’s a mistake I made initially!). The diameter is the same between the mini and large rollers and will result in the same size curls. These smaller rollers will result in a more “robust” curl and I actually found them better for creating curls that lasted all day! 12 rollers / pack.
Large – 6″ long rollers with a 1.5″ diameter. Best suited for longer hair between mid-back and longer or long hair that is thick. 6 rollers / pack
Pro Tip: I recommend having 2 packs when styling your hair. Even for someone like me who has thin, fine hair, I still found that I ran out when using just 1 pack of rollers and needed to add in a second pack. Save some money and get 1 of each (mini and large) — buying the combo pack is actually a great deal since you do save a few extra dollars too! I mix in a combination of the large and mini rollers myself now when I’m curling my hair with the smaller rollers at the top of my head to give some added volume!
Sleep Styler Review: How To Use It
Start with hair that’s about 80% damp — you want to make sure it’s not too wet since not only will it not dry it time but it’s also really uncomfortable. I run a smoothing serum on my ends as they tend to get super dry otherwise (this Aveda one is my favorite since it’s not too heavy and doesn’t make my hair look greasy). Grab about a 1″ section of hair, comb through any tangles, then wrap the hair around the rollers. I prefer to start winding the roller a couple inches from the scalp so my hair doesn’t really start curling until around my ear level. And to avoid the curls looking too uniform, I also alternate the direction of how I wind my hair around the rollers. Basically I apply the same technique that I use when I curl my hair with the curling wand when I’m using the rollers!
When it comes to actually sleeping in the rollers, it did take me a couple tries to figure out how to get comfortable. The rollers are super soft since they are made of memory foam, but I had to figure out a sleeping position where they didn’t bother me. My recommendations when it comes to sleeping with the rollers in:
- don’t wind the rollers too close to the scalp as I found that it tugs on my hair
- lay your head towards the edge of the pillow. I’ve found that if I lay on the pillow such that my cheek is just slightly off the edge of the pillow, I can have the rollers pushed back away from my face where I’m not actually resting on them and can sleep normally.
And that’s basically it! My favorite part is unwinding my hair from the rollers before I head out the door and having my hair just done! Be sure to take advantage of my 20% off coupon code SS07 and try out the Sleep Styler today!

These sound absolutely genius. I can never wash my hair at night because it takes forever to blow dry and I hate going to sleep with it wet. But if it were tucked away in something like this, not only would I skip the drying step, but I’d get to sleep longer and have my hair ready to go in the morning. So creative!

That sleep styler sounds like an ultimate solution to anyone in need to wake up and actually using the hashtag #wokeuplikethis, haha. I wish I could experiment more with my hair, but alas it’s too short for that.

How did you lay in bed and ? Was it hard to undress and put on nightclothes when your hair was in rollers?
