Every year we look forward to the Texas State Fair and this year was definitely the best one yet! This year, we partnered with AT&T GoPhone to experience the latest in prepaid mobile phone service. We also changed up our strategy this year and instead of going first thing in the morning, we decided to hit it up in the late afternoon and stay through the evening as long as the kids would last, since the fair didn’t actually close until 9pm on Sunday. It was such a game-changer and it was so nice to have the weather cool down after a few hours and the kids just loved seeing all the lights and fireworks too! With Dylan at 4 years old, he was also just big enough to actually start enjoying some of the rides, games, and of course, the food!
Taking a spin on the ferris wheel
There was so much to see and do once we entered the park! We ran into Big Tex first thing and caught it just as he made his hourly announcements; the kids loved seeing his hand wave as he talked! Dylan decided that we needed to do the ferris wheel ride first thing. We all loved the aerial views and the kids were just excited to be riding in the gondola chairs!
The midway games were up next and while both kids loved just watching others as they played, we ran across a game where all they had to do was scoop a duck from a pond to get a prize. They both picked out a small duck stuffed animal and for Mei, it has become her new “lovey” that she takes everywhere with her!
Before we realized it, the kids were all hungry and it was time for some food! While we didn’t go crazy with the fried foods, we did end up picking up a corny dog, turkey leg, roasted corn (my favorite!), and a huge cup of lemonade.
For the event, I also swapped out my smartphone for the AT&T GoPhone since I didn’t want to worry about possibly losing my phone and/or worrying about data overage charges. I love that it’s all prepaid (no contract!) and that it was also completely compatible with my existing iPhone. The phones work on AT&T’s 4G/LTE network and I love that GoPhone has plans that offer talk, text, and data usage starting at just $45. The GoPhone has made staying connected so easy and I loved that it was just one less thing I had to worry about!
enjoying the bubbles from the Bubble House
Once the sun went down, the fair grounds lit up with all sorts of lights. Dylan was absolutely awestruck and it was a whole different way to experience the fair! Dylan found a Bubble House attraction and ended up going in not once, but twice since he loved it so much! Closed-toe shoes were required so I ended up borrowing Adrian’s and it was definitely one of my favorite attractions too!
And now for the best part, I’m giving away an AT&T GoPhone smartphone plus $45 refill card to one of you! Just enter via the widget below:
