Today was one of those perfectly beautiful days with bright sunshine and perfectly blue skies that has me excited for Spring already. We went and celebrated my dad’s birthday at his favorite restaurant for lunch and afterwards just hung out on the patio letting Dylan run around and play. I did a bit of light layering with this sweater / striped vest combination, and these flower pom poms just seemed like a fun way to help transition this cold-weather vest into a warm weather look!
Meanwhile, Kate Spade is having a sale on my red bag for over 30% off! If you’re looking for a versatile bag that’s suitable for work and play (and can even fit a small laptop), don’t miss this sale. 🙂
I hope you all had a great weekend and be sure to check back later today for a great giveaway!

Thank you so much for the camera/lenses info! I really appreciate it! 🙂
no problem! 🙂
eeks, i totally forgot about taking the comparison pic today. i'll try to get around to it this week. so sorry about that!
Yesterday we had a day like that too. They are the best! I love the flowers on the vest!
Beautiful outfit! The pink blouse complimented the skirt. I would have just wore a black top since I'm still not good branching out with colors.
Since this skirt was only one size, did you have to do any alterations to the waist?
love that vest over just about anything!

No alterations to the waist actually! The waistband is all elastic in the back so it's easily adjustable. I just wish it had 5" more to it as I don't really do mini skirts these days. 🙂
Wow! this is definitely a thorough and informative review. I can't believe you carry all this stuff to work.
Funny enough, it's just more convenient that way instead of leaving half of it stored away at home and then never remembering to take it out and use it when I'm rushing to get out of the house in the mornings. 🙂
I'm starting to become obsessed with camel everything. This outfit makes me want to find a similar camel top or pullover sweater ASAP. Lovely outfit!
Visiting from the Mix and Match link up 🙂

I can't tell you how much I appreciate this post! I have a 50mm f1.8 and 75-300mm. I find that with the 50mm, my entire body never appears to be in focus. Even though the lens gives a very lovely bokeh effect, I find it hard to get crisp and clear photos from head to toe. I've even tried to have a friend click pictures of me, but I still feel it doesn't focus the entire length of the body properly. In fact I like the clarity with the 75-300, although I need someone else to click my photos for me and the person needs to stand quite far away. Do you think the 85mm will be a better investment for clear full body shots?
The lack of focus is another reason I really didn't like the 50mm f1.8. Everything just seemed "fuzzy". I would actually suggest going to the 50mm f1.4 instead of the 85mm as the 85mm is can also be rather tricky to work with in the beginning. With the 85mm lens, you need to stand farther away from the camera in order to include everything in the frame, and it's harder to do when you're aiming with a remote. The 50mm f1.4 is much easier in this case and why I recommend it. Once you're familiar with the 50mm f1.4, then try the 85mm.
And if you're unsure about whether you actually want to dish out the money for either new lens, I would also suggest renting a lens for a week or so to try it out. I've rented from http://www.borrowlenses.com and it's been great!
Hope this helps! 🙂
just posted the comparison of these lenses: http://cutenlittle.wpengine.com/2014/03/camera-lens-comparison-50mm-f14-vs-85mm.html
let me know if this helps!
This is a great series…as a fairly new blogger I'm still learning the ins and outs and working on improving my picture quality. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
