I’m not very good at the pattern mixing business {this was my feeble previous attempt} and so when I saw these two shirts hanging next to each other in the closet, I thought what better than to mix them up into a single outfit! I don’t wear button-down shirts often, but I love how they look layered under other shirts. This is definitely something I’m going to do more once fall weather kicks in! Since I felt all prepster up top, I decided to make it all girly on bottom. A pink pencil skirt and a big ol’ flower pin was just the ticket {as inspired by Elaine’s outfit yesterday}. The end result? I totally loved this look.

- The Hunt for Red {Before} October – I found a little red pencil skirt… 😉
Pattern mixing is a very strange phenomenon. Sometimes the unlikeliest things will go together and when they do its a remarkable experience. Love the pretty skirt and the stripes!
I totally love the striped shirt, just not sure of mixing them with button downs, but you nailed it! You look awesome! I also love the idea of a flower pin on skirt , really chic! Too bad I didn't win the Etta Grace pouf! haha, just kidding! Congrats to the winner!
Love the flower pin positioned on your skirt. Never thought of that before, but I must give it a try sometime 🙂

I am still so in love with that skirt! :p The color is great!
Pattern mixing is a lot of fun — and I really like it when things just fall together in my closet (as demo'd on my blog today!)… it just makes that step of getting dressed, that much easier.
love the mix of stripes! i, too, love the look of cardis over a buttoned shirt…just wish it was cool enough to wear the combo here! i was dying the last time i tried!

Your pattern matching turned out great! The two tops look casual & comfy but still classy. I have yet to venture into it but I'm going to keep my eyes open for tips from you.
I love your layers here, and I might have to try my flower pin on a skirt!
Loving how you've used that corsage! So chic! 🙂
P.S.: Did I tell you before how much I adore your collection of skirts???
thanks! i'm a big skirt fan too. 🙂
The color combination is refreshing, Kileen. I wouldn't have thought to pair blue with pink. Love the nautical/preppy/ladylike vibe.
I love your blog since the day I saw it. Also, love that you wear heels because I love to wear heels too, for a petite like me it is a must. 🙂
Thank you!! Heels are a must for me too!
