As a mom, I feel like I’m constantly learning on the job and trying to figure out what works best for my baby. As someone who has naturally dry skin, it was no surprise that both my kids have skin that dries out easily as well. My skin has always needed extra moisture so I personally have used and trusted Dove products for years. I am so happy to be partnering with Baby Dove to share our experience as well as my baby skincare tips for keeping their skin protected, especially through the harsh winter months.
Baby Skincare Tips – Keep it mild
Did you guys know that baby’s skin is actually 30% thinner than our own? Baby skin is much more vulnerable to dryness and incredibly delicate, so I love that the Baby Dove line is formulated specifically with this in mind. Their products are hypoallergenic, pH neutral, and provide gentle care that can be used every day to keep baby’s skin healthy. I have been using the Baby Dove Rich Moisture Tip to Toe Wash as a shampoo and body wash and love that it is mild yet works to replenish essential nutrients that can be lost during bath time. The formula is tear free and it hasn’t irritated either Dylan or Mei’s eyes whenever I rinse them off in the bathtub. The baby wash also contains Dove’s signature 1/4 moisturizing cream to nourish the skin and keep it smooth and hydrated for hours afterwards. I personally have noticed an immediate difference in the softness of my kids’ hair and also love the soft fragrance that has seemed to help my kids calm down as we get ready for bed.
Baby Skincare Tips – Lukewarm is just right
Bathtime is my favorite time to pamper my little ones but water can be surprisingly drying. I always stick to warm water instead of hot when it comes to bathing and avoid letting the water naturally evaporate off my kids’ skin as that can take away additional moisture.
Baby Skincare Tips – Pat instead of rub
To dry off, I pat dry instead of rub as the towel friction can be too much for delicate baby skin. I just do a quick pat down of my kids from head-to-toe as they get out of the bath tub and this keeps them from getting cold too the water doesn’t have a chance to evaporate.
Baby Skincare Tips – Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
I follow up quickly with Baby Dove Rich Moisture Lotion to lock in moisture, and I love that the lotion absorbs immediately without any sort of greasy feel. It has a subtle refreshing scent that’s light and soothing — Mei is absolutely in love with the lotion and I have to admit that I love using it even on myself!
We all the best for our babies and I’m so glad that there is now a line from one of my favorite skincare brands specifically formulated with baby’s delicate skin in mind. The new Baby Dove line provides head-to-toe care with a shampoo, tip to toe wash, lotion, baby bar, and even wipes — plus it’s safe to use even on newborns! It’s superior care that’s gentle on my little ones’ skin yet goes beyond mildness to keep actually help replenish moisture to keep skin healthy. Winter can definitely do a number on our skin but I love that Baby Dove is making it so much easier to keep our family’s skin happy and healthy!
