You guys, I can’t even with this weather. It was a beautiful sunny 80 degrees yesterday and today it’s snowing?! I needed a little pick-me-up from the Winter blues, so I decided to wear probably the girliest piece of clothing in my closet right now: this tulle skirt. I don’t really have anywhere to go that would necessitate a tulle skirt, but I can’t help but feel all pretty and a little Carrie Bradshaw-ish when I put it on. And so even though we ended up cooped up in the house all afternoon, at least I could twirl and dance to my heart’s delight!
If you are interested in a tulle skirt, I’ll make a few notes on this one. I’ve seen tulle skirts run over $100 these days and for something that can be a bit costume-y, I just can’t bring myself to fork over that much money. This one runs in at under $10 which is definitely a bargain. The skirt comes with four layers of tulle over a matching white slip. For a one-size-fits-all item, the skirt hit at my mid-shin off the rack while the slip hit right above my knee as shown (I’m 5′ tall for reference). The hem is unfinished on the tulle so alterations were just as simple as taking a pair of scissors and cutting — no sewing required! With the four layers of tulle (and no petticoat or anything to fluff it up), the skirt isn’t quite as poofy as I would have expected and is a bit see-through on the bottom where the slip ends. I chose to cut the skirt so that it hit at a midi length right past my knees, but if the see-through aspect is a problem, you could the skirt so that it ends in line with the slip and it would be at knee-length — still cute in my opinion! The waist is elastic so I ended up pushing the extra scrunched fabric to the back where it wouldn’t be noticeable. Overall, I am quite happy with this skirt find and had so much fun wearing it!

I was actually really lucky to find several tulle skirts at the thrift store last summer. I bought them all. I couldn't justify spending that on a tulle skirt either BUT I have worn all of them WAY more than I thought I would purely for the pick me up factor. I love the way that you styled this one!

It took about 2 weeks from the day I put my order in to the day I received the package. It's about typical shipping time for me when I order from these China companies.

Great bargain for the skirt! For a moment there, I actually thought you wore this outfit to work. I'm sure if I wore this outfit to work, I'd get tons of questions like "Are you going somewhere tonight?" as this outfit is a bit dressy/party-ish.

haha, this outfit is definitely not something I would wear to work. It's a weekend outfit only and I actually wore it on a cold day when I was mostly indoors just spending time with Dylan and Adrian. It was fun to feel like a princess in my own house. 🙂
