Hello and happy Wednesday! These last couple of days have been such a rollercoaster of emotions as we’ve been watching the election. While the results are still coming in, I figured it would be a fun distraction to share some fun photos that I took with my mini a few weeks ago. I love a good mommy-and-me matching moment and thankfully, Mei is all about it too!
I picked up these matching leopard shirts from PatPat (they have an amazing matching outfits category!) and thought it would be so cute to twin right down to the white leather star sneakers. I’ve had my Golden Goose sneakers for several months now (they were a gift from hubby!) and the top question I get every time I wear them is: are they worth the price? I’m sharing my review for you below as well as some more affordable Golden Goose sneaker dupes!

The first thing you’ll notice about Golden Goose sneakers is that they are designed to look “scuffed up” and broken in. Brand new, Golden Goose sneakers cost over $500, so it’s always a conversation starter as far as why someone would pay so much for something that looks used. I totally get it as I was also someone that just couldn’t justify spending this kind of money on the sneakers when I considered purchasing for myself. However, now that I’ve had my pair and worn them for nearly a year, I can honestly say that they are not only my favorite, but also my most worn sneaker.
Below are a few distinctions that really set authentic Golden Goose sneakers apart:
Golden Goose Quality Is Amazing: every pair of Golden Goose sneakers are made by hand in Italy, where they ensure that factory workers make a fair livable wage.
Every Pair Is Unique: a fun fact that I didn’t realize until I owned my Golden Goose sneakers is that for any given pair, the right side may not perfectly match the left side. This is intentional and adds to the uniqueness of the sneaker!
Hidden Leather Insole: as someone who’s only 5′ tall, this is huge for me! I actually had no idea that Golden Goose sneakers had a hidden insole before I owned a pair and honestly the height advantage probably the main reason I wear these shoes so much! I love the added boost and find that it actually adds to the cushion and comfort of the shoe. The hidden insole also affects sizing when it comes to these sneakers so if you’re in between sizes like me, I actually recommend sizing down!
“Terry Cloth” Interior: another feature I didn’t realize until I owned a pair of Golden Goose sneakers is that the interior of the shoe is actually a soft terry cloth-like material, instead of your typical smooth leather or unfinished suede leather. This is also by design as it makes the shoes warm in the winter and cool in the summer — making the Golden Goose sneakers perfect for year-round wear!

Given that I wear these sneakers several times a week, the cost per wear of these shoes for me definitely makes them justified. I have become more and more of a sneaker girl as I’ve gotten older, and can appreciate a quality shoe much more. Trends have also leaned more towards pairing almost every look these days with sneakers, regardless of whether you’re wearing a dress, jeans, or shorts. Sneakers are the perfect way to dress down a look and I am HERE 👏 FOR 👏 IT👏!
Note that Golden Goose changes the available styles of their sneakers every season. You’ll notice different prints, finishes, and treatments — if there’s a particular style that’s catching your eye, I definitely recommend ordering sooner rather than later as you’ll be surprised to find that Golden Goose sneakers sell out pretty fast!

If shelling out $500+ for a pair of distressed sneakers isn’t for you, there are several good options that look very similar. I personally bought this pair before owning my actual Golden Goose sneakers and can vouch for their comfort even if it doesn’t have all the other distinctions of Golden Goose sneakers!

The Golden Goose Sneakers look amazing. My only concern is that they will get dirty very easily so they won’t be a good option for my little one who loves running around grass, dirt, and mud.
I don’t think I could ever get my kids a pair of designer shoes, lol! These are $20 from Amazon and just have that similar look. Mine are authentic Golden Goose though and love them!

I’m not sure they’re my style because I prefer a solid color sneaker so I’m sure it matches everything, but I know that a lot of people love them! I think they are really cool….more so, with the fact that “Every Pair Is Unique”! It explains a lot why my feet can’t seem to match the shoes, when inter-changed.
