I was really excited about this shell especially after seeing it on Jess and the different ways that she styled it. I love the classic black and white color scheme and the flowers are just so pretty! Unfortunately I think the shape of the shell looked a bit awkward on me. I have to deal with a bigger chest at the moment (I’ve gone up 2 cup sizes to a 32D now that I’m nursing) and the bust area felt a little tight. It also raised the front hem a little higher than I would prefer and created too much of a differential between the front and back. Perhaps when I stop nursing, this top would drape the way that I would prefer, but for now, it’s a no-go.
VERDICT: Return (but possibly considering the pencil skirt version of this print!)
I wore this dress last weekend on our visit to the arboretum and absolutely love it! If you can’t tell, I’m on a black / white kick and I love the mix of chevron and horizontal stripes. The waist of this dress actually came just a little above my natural waistline and caused the skirt to poof out a bit more than I wanted to when worn on its own. I added this elastic belt and felt like it was just what the dress needed to cinch it in at my actual waist and keep the skirt from flaring out too much in the front. The arm holes are also the perfect size and I like that I can wear my normal bra with this dress without having to worry about it showing.
I loved this skirt after seeing it on Jen, but unfortunately it just didn’t flatter me at all. I was hoping for something with more of an A-line shape but instead it just hung almost straight up-and-down. The pockets were a nice addition, but they were weirdly placed in the front of the skirt instead of on either side. I did, however, see someone with the maxi dress version of this print and it was absolutely gorgeous! Smaller sizes are sold out online, but I’m hoping to see if I can find it in store…
VERDICT: Return (but on the hunt for the maxi dress!)
I added these mirrored aviators as a free shipping filler and surprisingly enough really liked them! Although I would’ve preferred a turquoise mirrored color as described in the product title, the green actually really grew on me and it’s perfect for those more everyday casual looks.
