If you follow me via twitter, you already know my big story. If not, I made it out to the H&M preview grand opening last night! The “popup store” temporarily opened up its doors in the former Express space and will be around until April 2011. The official store will be opening up in October of 2011. This smaller store is simply an opportunity for Dallas residents to get a sampling of their collection early. There will supposedly be events every three weeks where they will showcase new items. And supposedly there is new inventory arriving daily. Here is a picture of the front store display:
By the time I arrived around 5:30pm, the store was pretty packed and there were lots of excited men and women shopping the racks. Surprisingly enough, there were still quite a few small sizes left in lots of styles and I saw even associates restocking a few select items throughout the night.
The worst part was the lines. I ended up waiting 30 minutes to get into the dressing room. But walked out with three items. I deem it a success!
My final snag for the night was actually at Forever 21. I had noticed a leopard print skinny belt on their website the night before and was lucky enough to find it in the store! It’s the perfect light leopard color and very snaggable at only $2.50. It actually sold out online already, so hurry and pick it up at your local store!
So there you have it. My evening’s activities and haul in a nutshell. And now, it’s bedtime. ^_^

October 2011…! Gosh what a wait! At least you guys will have the popup store to hold you over from now until April. The line from your twitpic didn't look too bad…the H&M in Boston on Newbury Street (where Pam and I apparently frequent) can easily have longer lines during busy hours…such a pain but I end up just buying and trying on at home.
Must find that belt! I didn't want to splurge on any J.Crew or Ann Taylor ones since it seems so inexpensive to produce and yet their prices are so high. $2.50 cannot be beat!
kileen says
@PetiteAsianGirl such long lines! i do like the fact that you can actually return items at H&M (instead of just getting store credit like at F21). i will probably just do that next time.
and i was debating getting an AT or J. Crew leopard belt before too but even $15 seemed like a lot for something like that! so glad that F21 came out with one too! 🙂

I want a "popup store" in my town….so jealous!!! Glad to see your H&M visit was a success!

wow finally H&M in the Lonestar State! Congratulations!
I hope they really execute the motto of Texas and make this H&M store bigger than the others.
Now that I have gotten my belt hole puncher (Thanks to Jean's recommendation), I can't wait to buy more belts. Thanks for pointing this one out. I've been oddly obsessed w/leopard products lately. I hope my F21 will still have it.
Kileen-btw, what is the texture of this belt? Is it patent or faux calf hair?
@Annie from ReallyPetite: I've been meaning to ask you about the AT skinny belts since I've seen you mention it a couple of times. Does the AT skinny belts really fit your waist? You didn't need extra holes? Cuz if it fits your waist, I know it'll fit mine!
P.S. I look forward to seeing your H&M purchases in upcoming posts.
kileen says
@AubreyOhDang! the F21 belt is plastic – no calf hair and not shiny patent. I personally wanted one that was calf hair, but I've heard stories of the calf hair shedding over time, so this was a wonderful alternative!
And the belt does run large. You must have a belt hole puncher for this one!

Store openings are so exciting. I've never been to one. Sometimes I wonder if they're just a lot of hype though?
Did you like the experience of shopping at the new store better than other ones?
kileen says
@aki! i love the excitement of shopping new stores even though this H&M was a bit small. i love being around other people who love to shop and it's inspiring just to see what they're wearing! i think the store lived up to the hype. i fell in love with so many items that it was dizzying! 🙂
The Little Dust Princess says
I love the colour of your cardigan. : )
Wow, it seems like people in Toronto (myself included) have been taking H&M for granted! So many cities don't seem to have the store, which is a huge shock to me. I go to H&M like it's nothing and I've never experienced any major line-ups! We have so many locations here and so many people are getting sick of it! LOL

kileen says
@The Little Dust Princess haha, it's how i am with F21 now. i know lots of people still don't have a store close to them either and i go there like once a week! 🙂
and i'm so excited H&M is finally expanding into the south!

Love the ruffle blouse!
I wish we had H&M here. The closest one is almost an hour away. Hopefully one day they'll open one close by.

How EXCITING!

kileen says
@Ashley why thank you!! this was actually the first cardi i ever bought several years ago. love it! 🙂

I remember that feeling when H&M first opened their store in Ohio. I am glad that you got a chance to check them out. H&M is definitely one of my favorite stores. I am looking forward to see you wearing those pieces. They're super cute!

You have a big collection of shoes and I love them all! <3

Ahhh!! I need to make a trip to Dallas!
Cee says
Yay! It's about time Dallas gets a H&M store! Next year is so far away, but I'm glad there's a popup store for the time being.
Cute outfit today. I adore your heels. They remind me of Louboutins without the price tag.
Angga says
When I saw your title I thought you are going to make an outfit post about the H&M purchase, cant believe how crazy the opening are, but its about time they open in Dallas, love the ruffle top on you!!

When the H&M opened up in Raleigh the lines were like this for months just to try clothes on. I never waited them out… so kudos to you for doing so! And you definitely scored with that belt too! Love it!
Also love that ruffle top! It is so pretty!

Yay for H&M! I love that store. And cute purchases.

Love your outfit. Gives me a feeling that Spring is coming. 🙂 The UO jeans are very good looking. How is the fit?
emiliabelknap says
I totally adore the color scheme of your outfit! The leopard skinny belt is such a great find, congratulations. I am still on the search for my perfect leopard belt to mix and match with my outifts.
kileen says
@Vicky the fit is perfect on me! the leg shaft is super slimming, there is no waist gap, and the length is perfect! sometimes i don't want any scrunching at the ankles and these are the pair that fit the bill! i have another post here where i showed them: http://bit.ly/eZlYqY
hope that helps!

I love the ruffle shirt and how the neutral color is paired with green! You are truly the master of color combos – you come up with things that I would never think of otherwise and make it look fantastic 🙂
Mimi says
Wow, love the f21 belt you snagged…so inexpensive too! Anyway, I swear the h&m dressing room here on a weekend sometimes have a 30 minute wait too! Thats the one downfall!
Nelah says
I really like the strips and colors of this cardigan and how you style it. Very pretty.
Jbreezybaby says
I love ruffle tops.. good for hiding my flabs lol. but this look is very cute. damn that line from H&M!
kileen says
@Jbreezybaby you're gorgeous girl! i don't know what you're talking about flabs. 🙂
Amy says
Ahhh, lines! That's what would prevent me from going to a store opening. I stayed away from the H&M here for almost half a year after it opening, and that was one of the reasons! But now that I've gone I can't stay away, haha.
very aimee

kileen i friggin love those jeans on you! and yay for h&m!

I have an almost identical cardigan from Express from years ago…I wonder if it was from when the Limited and Express were owned by the same company?
kileen says
@Taraoh, you're right. i just double-checked the label and it is Express instead of The Limited. thanks for catching my oversight!
