Summer is around the corner and if you’re like me, you prefer to go with less makeup. Texas heat can be pretty brutal and there have been times when I’ve felt like my makeup was just melting off my face! Not cute. I’ve noticed also that while I loved glamming it up when I was younger, these days I prefer a more fresh-faced natural look. Maybe it’s me starting to appreciate natural beauty and imperfections as I get older (or maybe it’s just the fact that my kids don’t give me more than 5 minutes to get ready!), but I thought I’d share three simple tips for achieving naturally glowing skin — no makeup required!
- Nourish from the inside out. There’s a lot of truth to the statement “you are what you eat.” I try to eat my fill of greens everyday along with a colorful mix of different fruits and vegetables. I know that when I eat well, it shows in my naturally glowing skin. And maybe it’s because I have a birthday coming up, but I’ve also been a bit more paranoid about looking older… So, I’ve been doing what I can and boosting with supplements to make sure I fill all the gaps where my diet may fall short. Nature Made® launched a new skin-moisture supplement line called Glow by Nature Made®. The line aims to help support skin hydration from within and helps with skin smoothness, suppleness, and firmness*,¥,†. Glow by Nature Made® uses Ceramosides, a clinically tested ingredient that provides ceramides which have been shown to help support skin hydration by helping form a lipid barrier within your skin to retain moisture†. While the Glow by Nature Made® line has three different varieties (Skin Moisture, Skin Moisture + Sleep, and Skin Moisture + Hair and Nails), I chose this one designed for hair and nails as biotin may help support healthy hair, skin and nails‡. I do notice a difference when I take Glow by Nature Made® and at $13.99 a bottle, it’s affordable! I picked mine up in the vitamin / supplement aisle at Target and you can take an extra 10% off right now with code GLOW (available online as well!).
- Glycolic Acid. Glycolic acid is my favorite alpha-hydrxy acid and always leaves my naturally glowing skin brighter and more radiant. My favorite products with glycolic acid are actually both by Pixi — the Mud Cleanser and the Glow Tonic. Both products contain 5% glycolic acid and give my skin a slight tingle which I love (makes me feel like it’s working!). If you caught my Instastory, you may have caught when I started using the mud cleanser this past week. I have been seriously blown away by the results! I let the mud cleanser sit on my face for a good 5 minutes before rinsing it off and it reveals clearer naturally glowing skin immediately! Similarly, the Glow Tonic is a cult favorite and has a staple in my regimen for the past year and a half. It’s ideal for removing dead skin cells and tightening my skin after I cleanse.
- Face Oil. I only started using face oils maybe 6 months ago and at first I was afraid that it would make me look oily and greasy, but on the contrary its been nothing but amazing! My two favorites that I alternate using are the Biossance Squaline + Vitamin C Rose Oil as well as the Colleen Rothschild Face Oil N°9. Both oils are packed with pure ingredients that are nothing short of transformative! I apply the oil after my serum and before my lotion (you can also mix it in with your lotion); it leaves my skin luminous and soft. I could write a whole post on these oils and how I swear by them — let me know if you’re interested!
I hope you found these tips helpful! Let me know how you if you have any tips for how you take care of your naturally glowing skin. Do you change up your routine as summer approaches?
pin now, save for later!
*For adults with dry skin. ¥ 70 mg of Ceramosides® ‡Biotin may help support healthy hair, skin and nails in those that are biotin deficient.†

I’ve always thought that face oil would make your face greasy. So interesting to hear that it doesn’t. Gotta try!

yes, I couldn’t believe the difference when I tried the Biossance oil for the first time 6 months ago — it made a huge difference in the texture of my skin! The Colleen Rothschild one is a new one I’ve been using for the past 3 weeks and it’s made my skin so super soft and glowing. You have to try!!

I have so much trouble with my skin and acne, I’ve been trying to use oils more, but I also feel like I can’t skip the acne medication and I would love so much to have naturally glowing and clear skin right now.
