For the past few weeks, I’ve been super low maintenance when it comes to hair and makeup. Part of me felt like I was still detoxing from all the glitz and glam of the holidays, but now that February is around the corner, I’m itching to switch it up again and try something new. I walked into Ulta the other day and omg, it was inspiration heaven! You know how much I love gold, and especially rose gold, so of course, I could not take my eyes off the new Hot Tools Rose Gold Collection that just launched!
Fun fact: Hot Tools was the first professional hair tool line that I purchased for myself out of college. I remember that curling iron was my little sidekick for years and years, and I couldn’t resist going back to my roots and picking up the newest Hot Tools Black Rose Iconic Salon Dryer and Hot Tools Golden Rose 1 1/4″ Flipperless Curling Wand to try!
Hot Tools Ionic Salon Hair Dryer – $99.99
I started off with the Hot Tools Black Rose Ionic Salon Dryer and had it tackle my wet hair straight out of the shower. The Hot Tools hair dryer is designed with ionic technology, which both helps in minimizing frizz as well as speeds up the drying process. My hair can be pretty unruly, especially in the dry wintertime months with frizz and static flyaways, but I could not have been more impressed with the smooth shine of my hair once I was finished!
The Hot Tools Ionic Salon Dryer is one of the most powerful dryers on the market, with both tourmaline and ceramic ion technology that protects the outside of the hair shaft while also heating hair from the inside. There are six speeds and heat combinations, so I love that I can customize the setting exactly to how I like it but also use it for my kids’ on the lower heat settings. For only $99.99, the dryer even comes with a diffuser and concentrator — such an amazing value!!
Next, I moved onto the Hot Tools Curling Wand and if you follow me on Instagram stories, you know that this tool is a new favorite. I was immediately impressed with how quickly the wand heated up (I’ll be the first to admit that I can be impatient when I’m trying to finish getting ready to head out the door on time!). The heat setting goes up to 450 degrees with a digital display and a knob dial that allowed me to set exactly my desired temperature.
The 1 1/4″ barrel size is also perfect for creating those gorgeous glamorous curls, but what I was most surprised to see was just how long my curls lasted. My hair is pretty stubborn when it comes to holding a curl, but my curls have been lasting 3-4 days — even through workouts, ponytail/bun hairstyles, and sleep! The price of
$79.99 is incredible as the results truly rival that of more expensive options!
Valentine’s Hairstyle – Mini Bow Hair Updo Tutorial
Since Valentine’s Day is just a couple short weeks away, I wanted to share a super quick tutorial on a hairstyle that would be perfect for a girls’ or date night out. I’m not a hair person, so you can bet that this tutorial is about as easy as it gets! The only tools you’ll need are the curling wand, a hair tie, and a few bobby pins.
Step one of the updo involves curling your entire head with the Hot Tools curling wand. Can we just take a moment here and appreciate the shiny bouncy curls? It’s no doubt why I’m so obsessed with this curling wand!
Once the entire head is curled, separate out a top portion of your hair. Tie it off with the hair tie, but keeping it looped partially through on the last loop as shown in the left picture above. You don’t want too much hair pulled out (probably around 4″) as this will later turn into the “bow” portion of the hairstyle.
Pull apart the loop into two even sections and these will turn into the two loops of your bow updo.
Then, take a small section of hair that wasn’t pulled through and loop it around the hair tie. Pin down the remaining extra. This will help keep the hair separated and finish off that “bow” hairstyle! I finished off by adding just a few more bobby pins on each side of my hair “bow” just to give it a bit more shape / fluff as well as to secure everything in place. But that is it and seriously, in under 10 minutes you have a cute updo that you can wear for date night / girls’ night!
Give this super easy Valentine’s hairstyle a try and I’d love to know how it works for you! And be sure to bring the latest rose gold Hot Tools collection into your styling collection and have your hair styling collection be just as beautiful as your closet!
