Hello and I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! We’re enjoying the crisp cooler weather and spent some time finally getting the house in order before the busy holiday season kicks off. Adulting, am I right? With two little ones and managing a busy schedule, you can bet that I’m always looking for products that make the cleaning process less of a chore. I’m sharing a fall cleaning checklist that I used to prep my home for fall and how it can be quick and easy!
Fall Cleaning Checklist Tip #1: Sparkle Those Floors
We have a lot of hardwood floors in our common areas and let me tell you, it’s one of my least favorite tasks when it comes to keeping this place clean! We have a cat that seems to shed constantly so it never fails that I see dust bunnies in random corners on a daily basis. O-Cedar has some of the best mops and fun fact: I purchased a super similar O-Cedar mop almost 10 years ago when Adrian and I first moved in together! The O-Cedar ProMist Max Spray Mop takes cleaning one step further by combining a spray feature into the mop itself!
The mop comes with a refillable tank that allows me to choose my own cleansing solution and it’s super easy to spray as I go. To get our hardwood floors to shine, I mixed warm water with Murphy’s Oil soap and I couldn’t believe how easy the whole process of polishing our floors became! The microfiber pad picks up dust / dirt and I can flip the head 180 degrees to continue cleaning longer without having to stop. The larger frame also means that I can make fewer passes to cover everything. It’s seriously turned a job that I dreaded into something that I can finish up in under 10 minutes!
Fall Cleaning Checklist Tip #2: Get Rid of Those Nasty Odors
PowerOE Odor Eliminating Spray and Cleaner
Dylan is involved in soccer, t-ball, and most recently karate so sometimes things can smell a little funky after his practices. And let’s be honest, our cat can make a pretty big stink too over by his litter box! I’m personally not a fan of masking odors with perfumes so I was happy to try out a couple products from PowerOE that actually worked to neutralize the odor molecules.
The PowerOE Odor Eliminator Spray works almost immediately and can be sprayed anywhere there are smells you want to neutralize. You can even use it on smelly clothes as a pre-treatment!
The PowerOE Cleaner and Odor Eliminator is an all-purpose cleaner and works on multiple surfaces to disinfect. The cleanser is powered by Thymol, which I googled myself and learned that it’s found in the oil of the thyme plant and is a natural alternative to bleach. Love when I can find safe and effective alternatives to harsh chemicals when it comes to cleaning!

Fall Cleaning Checklist Tip #3: Whiten + Brighten Clothing + Sheets
If you have little ones, I’m sure you can relate to the struggle that is non-stop laundry. My kids and I all have sensitive, eczema-prone skin so I’m always looking for products that are free of harmful ingredients that will cause irritation. Molly’s Suds is passionate about purity, quality, and consumer safety with products that are formulated with earth and plant-derived ingredients. One issue I’m always facing is that I want my whites to be white and my colors to be bright. For our high-efficiency machines, I put in a scoop of the Oxygen Whitener into the pre-wash cup and couldn’t believe how well it worked even on clothes that I didn’t realize had gotten a bit dull over the years!

Fall Cleaning Checklist Tip #4: Insulate Your Windows
When we first moved into our home, my parents noticed that we had several single-pane windows that would result in air drafts and energy loss. Adrian and I had long talked about replacing the windows but even a year after having moved in, we still haven’t managed to find time to get it done. I didn’t even realize that there were insulation kits available so I was definitely excited to try out the Duck roll-on window insulation kits. The kit actually made the whole process as easy as can be and the only tools needed were scissors and a hair dryer. Simply line the window with the supplied double-sided tape and then roll-on the film. Use the hair dryer to shrink the wrap and remove all the wrinkles. I thought I would need Adrian’s help for this one but after watching this tutorial video, I figure I’d give it a shot and it couldn’t have been easier!
Fall Cleaning Checklist Tip #5: Scour Pots / Pans
There are always those pots and pans that tend to accumulate grease and resist getting clean even with multiple runs through the dishwasher! I had heard of the Scrub Daddy on Shark Tank awhile back but had never gotten a chance to try any of their products. The Scour Daddy was just what I needed as I had several pots and pans that needed a good deep cleaning. Since many of mine have a nonstick coating, I have to be careful to use only tools that wouldn’t scratch the surface. I took one swipe with the Scour Daddy sponges and I couldn’t believe how easily it removed stuck on food particles! I let them dry in my Scrub Daddy Sponge Caddy, which held up super nicely in the side of my sink and kept my counters clear.
Fall Cleaning Checklist Tip #6: Gut the Grout
Seriously what is worse than cleaning grout? I’ve always dreaded cleaning grout just because it’s so time consuming and tedious but that’s all changing with the Grout Gator! The Grout Gator is a 14″ long brush that allows you to adjust the location of individual grout brushes to match the width of your grout lines. Previously I had taken a toothbrush to do my scrubbing but this get all the grout in one fell swoop. The brush allows you to clean 2 to 8 grout lines at once. Dylan was actually enjoying himself so much helping me scrub the grout that he didn’t want me to help — no complaints here! : )
