If my skirt color looks familiar, it’s cause I wore the same color but in shorts form a couple days ago. Some people have the same clothing item in different colors; I have the same color but in different clothing items. Am I a color nut of what? 🙂
Luckily for you, I paired the same-colored bottoms with completely different colored other items. That just goes to show you how awesome this color is. It’s probably one of my favorite neutrals as it’s dark enough to complement lighter skin tones yet still light enough to wear for the springtime. That’s one hard-working color, right?
And… it’s Color Brigade Day! I went with a more muted palette today as I had to counter my neon bright outfit from yesterday. Since I’m horrible at describing colors, here’s my palette:

I love this bandage skirt on you — not too short and not too long. It's old, right? Just my luck 🙂
thanks for letting me link up sweetie! love the detail of the top of your purple shirt and how it goes w/ the gold belt!
I love this deep purple on you.
My Heart Blogged
Thanks for the comment on my page Kyleen! I love this outfit once again. You're always so put together. I love the remote in your hand! lol! What kind of camera do you have?
Very nice color combination, Kileen. I love the peach color of your sweater. It's great for spring. So jealous of your sunny weather 🙂
I have this skirt in blue (you do too!) and I've been waiting for them to come out with some new colors…this one is PERFECT! I love how it fits! Now just gotta wait for a sale and a coupon and I'll be all over it! 😀
Lidi @ Eclectic Flair
actually no! i just bought it at Express this weekend! very recent! 🙂
oh yes, i have this skirt in navy too! i love that it's a longer skirt on
me and the color is perfect! and yes, i can't wait until they have a sale
too. i have my eyes on several items! 🙂
oh thank you! we actually had a hail storm last night (with 70 mph winds!)
but it cleared up into a beautiful morning. 🙂
it's a Canon Rebel XSi. basic intro camera but it's great so far! 🙂 oh,
and the remote i use is the Canon RC-6.
thanks! i bought this shirt during a sale at LOFT almost 6 months ago and
this is the first time i've worn it, lol! 🙂
Yay! Great news, thanks for letting me know!
great skirt. i remember seeing this at express in black, thinking this was a betteer bandage than most…not too tight or short. love the color, too.

yes, they just came out with new colors recently!! i have an old one in
navy but they did come out with white, black, and my "cool earth" color. 🙂
I think one of the things I love most about your blog is that you are really a true color genius because you are ALWAYS mixing it up. Some days you are bright, bright bright all over (in a very good way) other days you rock the neutrals or muted colors and sometimes you shine in one statement piece. It's always fun to click over and see what experiment you've taken on this time.
You are so right; that color is fantastic! I love dark greys like that because then I mix it when black and brown alike. So cute!
North Meets South
thank you!! i like variety. 🙂
I think this is my favorite skirt of yours – which is saying a lot since you have many, many cute skirts. The texture is just so pretty and really draws the eye in. Great outfit and background! Thanks for exploring areas for pictures – I know it takes time but it's worth it bc the photos turn out beautifully!
Loving the outdoor pics recently, Kileen! Are you the one who uses the Canon T2i? I'm confusing my petite bloggers! hahaha
Love the peach with the dark purple – so unexpected and so pretty! Always impressed by your colorful ensembles, Kileen!
no, i use Adrian's old Canon XSi. i think Jean (ExtraPetite) and Annie
(ReallyPetite) both have the T2i. 🙂
i'm waiting out for the Canon 5D Mark III that's rumored to come out later
this year!
Bandage skirts really suit you Kileen!

I have that same camera too! No wonder your pictures are always to nice 😉
I love the longer length of skirt..usually those bandage styles are always so short.
those shoes are HAWT! love it!
You look gorgeous of course as always. I am definitely love the color coordination here..the purple goes so well with the neutral skirt and the gold belt was the perfect extraness for the outfit…cauuutttte!!
BTW Thanks again for the linkup 🙂
I love the color, and I am really wondering why Express calls that a "mini skirt" — it looks modest to me! But maybe it is because you are more petite? I have been looking for a way to rock the bandage trend…. maybe I'll try a pencil skirt!
This is so lovely. the high-waisted skirt fits well on you. I haven't seen it on many people that pulled it off well. Such stylish entires.. -xxoo

Beautiful colour combo! We're heading into autumn here in New Zealand and these colours are really inspiring me, especially the plum/purple (yea, I suck at colour descriptions too…!!).

Born To Be Styled
Adorable. And of course the piece I like the most (the shirt) is from LOFT. I need to travel and find that store!
I do the color thing all the time, either different pieces in the same color or the same piece in different colors. If it works you might as well stock up!

Love the skirt….the belt is the perfect touch….the pics are really great too hunnie!!
thanks! i like the Express ones cause their not too tight but have a nice
bandage style. 🙂
oh thank you! i'm still trying to learn my camera, but it's getting better
(hopefully!).
I really like the combo. Of course, I've made myself step out of my comfort zone with colors! I tend to stay with colors that do not stand out. So I can appreciate this laid back look. You wear it WELL!
I totally love your outfit!
lovely pictures…
ps. I would like to invite you to the first giveaway on my blog.

Love the gold belt – another great brigade!
This skirt looks fab on you! Love how great it looks with the golden belt.
Don't know if I told you already or not but you look so pretty with bangs. 🙂
i love your outfits<3
thank you! 🙂
wow.. that's amazing outfit! I really like it! 🙂

I love that skirt on you! The ruffled cardigan is super gorgeous too. You look great, as always!
Come take a look inside A Working Mom's Closet
You are so adorable! Love your cardigan 😉 keep it up, girl!
I love that sweater!! It really does go great with the skirt and the purple top, too.
kileen i'm so loving all your new location shots!!! i love that bandage skirt on you!
thanks! who knew there were so many good photo spots around my house? 🙂
there is not much I DON"T like about this outfit
the teired skirt, ruffled sweater and embellished t!
All of my favorite things rolled into one outfit
Awesome
Brett
I totally have multiple pieces in that same color! It's such a good color on everyones skin tone and the bandage is super slimming!!
You are so pretty Kileen! I see you are taking self-photos in the street/public..any advice for me attempting this in the near future? How do you figure out where your tripod goes or the correct settings? LOL
so pretty kileen! you are the queen of skirts! hehe.
I don't think I mentioned this, but I love your top! The sequin detail really makes it pop and I'm totally enjoying your outdoor location photos…not just the rooftop ones. =)
i use the same settings as i used before on my roof, but sometimes i'll play
with the f-stop. it's hard though as the likelihood of blurry pictures goes
up significantly.
and as for tripod placement, i just look through the viewfinder to find a
good picture and imagine myself standing somewhere. it's pretty much like
if you were the photographer.
it's a lot of trial and error but i think it's part of the fun. good luck
if you decide to venture outside! and get ready for people to look and ask
questions. you definitely cannot be shy! 🙂
Lighter neutrals in the springtime are definitely a great way to go!
I just love this sweater! And then I realized that I was wearing something similar 😉 Could be why I like it so much. Hee hee!
yay!! we were twinsies. 🙂
yay!! we were twinsies. 🙂
I have a similar bandage skirt from Express but I wish mine was closer to my knee like yours is.
(Mine: http://scrapandrun.blogspot.com/2010/10/day-1-pink-10110-and-shopping.html)
oh wow, it's an actual mini skirt like it was intended to be on you!! 🙂
Yea I just wish it wasn't a mini skirt. Too many places have cute skirts but then they aren't work appropriate and I have work 5 days a week and have no life the other days so I need some cool work appropriate skirts.
How tall are you?
I'm only 5' tall and have very short legs (26" inseam). 🙂
I figured you were short but wasn't short exactly how much. I also didn't know the inseam. My inseam is 34 or 34.5 if I wear flats. If I wear a heel, I need longer than that.
