For the past 3 weeks I’ve been collaborating with a few other bloggers and styling some of this season’s latest trends (see our previous take on leather, monochromatic, and pastel). This week’s theme is plaid / tartan and I couldn’t be more excited to style my plaid pencil skirt for the occasion! When the plaid / tartan trend first came on the scene, I didn’t think it would be something I would go for. I’m not one for the lumberjack look and didn’t think I could pull off the pattern. But, I am a well-documented lover of good pencil skirts and this green / navy plaid one from J. Crew had a fresh and modern take on the trend and boasted such wearable colors that I couldn’t resist!
Since the colors in this plaid skirt are on the darker side, I paired it with something bright (and neon, in this case!). The sunny yellow color was perfect for the unexpected bit of warm weather we’ve been having here in December. I’ve also been loving metallic accessories lately and added some silver accents to put a bit of holiday sparkle to this look while still looking work appropriate.
I’m finally getting my stride back after the holiday and feeling better now after the flu hit our family over the break. I’m dying to go back to the gym again and get a good sweat in! 🙂
