Fall is officially here! Even though it seems like Texas doesn’t really get the memo to cool down until another month or so, I noticed the first signs of leaves changing colors the other day and couldn’t be more excited! Cozy knit sweaters, layered cardigans, and of course boots boots boots are all part of why I love this season so much. I seriously look forward to wearing boots all year long and love how a chic pair can instantly change an outfit from basic to put-together! But, as someone who’s petite (I’m 5′ tall), the search for a pair of well-fitting tall boots is also one of the most frustrating. For reference, my calves measure around 13″ around and my lower leg is about 14 1/2″ high, making most “knee high” boots come up to an awkward spot in the middle of my knees. I recently took a chance on these riding boots from Born and have been over-the-moon happy about how these tall boots fit and feel! They’re my new go-to tall boots and I couldn’t be more excited to share all the details with you all!
Born Shoes: About The Brand
I first discovered the Born brand earlier this year so I knew firsthand the comfort and durability of their shoes. I’ve been consistently impressed with the quality of their leathers as well as the attention to detail in the hand-sewn construction of their signature stitching process. Born has been specializing in footwear for over 20 years and has perfected eh art of premium, hand-crafted shoes. These ‘Fannar’ boots live up to the Born shoes name and I immediately fell in love with the rich suede leather and the subtle burnished leather toe look that gave it a lived-in, time-worn patina. The fabric is soft and breathable, making it comfortable for layering over jeans and pants, yet the leather still has enough structure to keep a bit of the shape on its own. These boots come in 5 different colors — I’m wearing the taupe shade but love the deep mahogany “rust” color as well!
‘Fannar’ Boots: Fit + Comfort
I am typically a size 5.5 when it comes to shoes but took the size 6 in this pair as it was the smallest size (and the actually fit perfectly worn with a pair of thicker socks). The calf circumference for a size 6 measures 15″ with a shaft height of 15″ (measurements will vary slightly depending on size). The distinguishing feature that really makes these tall boots petite-friendly is the adjustable buckle at the top. On the smallest setting, they are a perfect fit for petite calves yet I love that these boots are also versatile enough for those with wider calves. There are zippers on both sides of the boots, making for easy entry when layering over jeans or thicker pants.
On their own, these boots come up just below my knees but I’ve added a pair of 1.5″ Invisible Heels just to give my legs a couple extra inches (they’re my secret weapon when it comes to wearing boots and you can read my full review here). These tall boots come with a modest stacked heel of 1 1/2″ and a platform of 1/4″. When it comes to comfort, I definitely put these tall boots to the test as I wore them all day on my recent trip to Portland and spent countless hours walking on foot exploring the city in them without any issues (see my outfit shot here)!
I picked up these tall boots from Zappos as you seriously cannot beat the super fast shipping and amazing customer service. I’m part of their free Zappos Rewards program that includes free expedited shipping (I literally received my shoes the next business day after ordering them!), points for purchases that convert into cash-back, and early access to sales! Zappos has a one-of-a-kind 365-day return policy and world-class customer service that has always made shopping with them worry-free (I’ve personally used their Live Chat program in the middle of the night for questions regarding an order and they have been the most helpful and responsive!).

This is such a great fall look! I absolutely love that sweater! And the boots are really gorgeous. I have the opposite problem with tall boots where they are often not tall enough.

Such a great fall outfit! Those boots are gorgeous
I need to share these boots with my mom. She’s petite too and struggles with finding the perfect boot.
Thanks,
Tif
Loving this post! I’m petite too, and I absolutely love Born boots. I have one pair that I have been pulling out of the closet for years now…in fact I’m wearing them in a photo in my link up post. They are so comfortable that I can walk and walk in them, as if I was wearing tennis shoes. Mine have a rubber bottom, so the bottom of my foot doesn’t start to hurt with extended walking like it does with some boots! The boots that you are wearing are super cute!
I love these boots! Such a great fall classic and they are so perfect with those distressed jeans!

In love with this top!!!
Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. This look is so chic. These boots look perfect on you. My boot problem is that they are always too wide on the calves. I which I could find boots for thin calves!
Great boots! Love the color. Your top is so pretty too, I love the cut out detail! Beautiful look!
