Dylan and I took a walk this afternoon when I got home from work and I was amazed at how suddenly we had spent almost an hour walking around the block, holding hands, and actually having a conversation. A conversation with my little 21-month old! Albeit a good majority of Dylan’s “talking” actually involved him using baby sign language, but for the first time there seemed to be a continuous back-and-forth between us instead of just him pointing out random things here and there. Our nanny took him to the Dallas Arboretum yesterday where they have a Tiny Tot Tuesday program. Dylan told me about how he played with his friend who had a red ball. When I asked how he liked his first face-painting experience, he told me about how the man who painted him wore a hat and how he got a puppy drawn on his face but also really liked the tiger option too. It’s amazing to have a little friend to talk to now. I feel like we’ve hit another milestone! This is probably my favorite of them all. 🙂
I was rummaging through my closet the other day looking for pieces that I hadn’t worn in awhile and came up with this army green shirt. With its military-inspired cut and color, it can naturally be a bit more on the masculine side, but when paired with a pencil skirt, a statement necklace, and a little pink bow belt, it’s nothing but feminine. The colors ended up being a bit safari inspired but since spring is all about getting outdoors, it seemed fitting nonetheless!

Safari inspired looks are amazing and these colors look so pretty on you! ♥ Aww that truly is a milestone, you should make a video while he's talking to you! 🙂
Rathana xoxo
you look amazing! love this outfit! it is matched and color coordinated very well!
It is SO COOL when these moments come by. I had a moment like that the first time I heard my daughter reading too. And the first time I realized that my younger son was actually doing math. And a similar experience with my oldest son when we were talking! So special. I love the mustard pencil skirt!
oh my goodness, so many more good moments to come! parenting is really something. 🙂
thanks Rathana! and I actually speak just Chinese to Dylan so a video might be hard to understand for a lot of people. I might still do it anyways and just add some captions. Thanks for the idea! 🙂
So clean and sophisticated! I love it!

Yay! Old school "cute and little" with the Color Brigade material! This is a sweet outfit you've put together- perhaps even candy sweet. In fact, the blouse is sweet with its chocolate brown color, that stylish skirt is like a nice caramel color, and the vanilla coat is also sweet. So… sweet outfit, Kileen! 🙂 Oh, and nice pumps and handbag.

thanks John! It's fun to bring back the old school linkup. 🙂
Ah! That skirt! I have had nightmares about being stuck in that color skirt! But let me just tell you, I have never seen anyone pull it off better! You knew how to style it great and it honestly looks amazing with your skin tone. You look great! And I love reading your fun little stories about Dylan! He seems little a wonderful kid 🙂
Fantastic look! I love every part of it!
omg, your nightmares! this mustard skirt is one of my faves and it's funny to think how much I debated buying it in the first place.
and Dylan really is such a joy. sure he's had his tantrums but we're working on managing them better and he's really growing into such an awesome little boy!
omg this look is so darling! very office appropriate and chic xo, natalie http://natalieast.com
Your outfits always look so well put together. Great color combination and fantastic pieces!
Hi Kileen! Love the skirt and the belt! Also I think I did the Color Brigade linkup wrong. Sorry about that!
No problem! I just fixed up the thumbnail image. Thanks for linking up! 🙂
Thanks very much Kileen! 🙂
Kileen, that's a beautiful look – love the curry skirt and the bow belt is extra cute!
Enjoy the wonderful time with your little son. My children are adults now and these steps you describe have been an amazing adventure. Every age is great (ok, some are more challenging *g*) and now we have these adult conversations which I enjoy so much. Great that you bring up Dylan bilingual!
