Easter Outfit Ideas:
Texas springtime is truly beautiful and I just love when it seems like everything is blooming! Every year around this time we take the kids out to the Dallas Arboretum and let them run around and play while I snap photos against the prettiest backdrops. With Easter coming up, I thought it would be a great opportunity to share a few coordinating family Easter outfit ideas! I actually didn’t get a chance to plan our outfits ahead of time at all so here’s to show you that it’s easier than you might think!
TIP 1: Pick Your Outfit First
If you’re anything like me, these pictures really mean the most to you. My outfit is also oftentimes the trickiest to figure out so I like to build the family’s outfits around mine, lol. In the springtime, I always go for a pretty dress and pick one that’s figure flattering. Avoid any styles that are oversized; fit-and-flare styles are my favorite and I definitely recommend something that defines the waistline! I’ve rounded up a few dresses that caught my eye in the widget below:

TIP 2: Build Out the Family Color Palette
Once my outfit is decided, I pick out what colors the rest of the family can coordinate their outfits around. I personally prefer sticking to 2-3 colors just to keep it simple. For us, blue is a dominating color in each of our wardrobes so it was an easy go-to even in the midst of our last-minute coordination. I also try to find colors fitting for the season.
- spring: all about pinks, pastels, and soft color tones (see our previous family ones: 2014, 2015)
- summer: love the punchy brights like yellows and corals
- fall: a personal favorite and a time when I get everyone in warm autumn tones such as orange, olive, and brown (see our previous family ones: 2013, 2018)
- winter: can be a bit tricky but I generally go with a few pops of red against darker shades such as greys and blues (see our previous family ones: 2014, 2017, 2018)
Once the colors are chosen, I also prefer to have outfits with slight variations on that color so it doesn’t look too uniform. I love how the shades of blue with pops of white and pink turned out for these photos! I’ve rounded up a few Easter outfit ideas for the little ones that would be so cute for Easter / Spring!

TIP 3: Minimize Busy Prints
I try to keep the prints to a minimum when it comes to family outfits. Simple wins the game when it comes to coordinating and generally solid colors with a subtle texture overlay or print work best. For our outfits here, we were all wearing head-to-toe blues so small details added an eye-catching visual differentiation that worked!

And lastly, when it comes photoshoot time, make sure to always bring snacks! I usually have a stash of grapes, bunny grahams, or fruit snacks handy as these fit in their hands without being too noticeable in pictures and don’t make a mess!
