Every girl needs a little pampering!  The last couple of weeks here have been busier than usual as I’m in the middle of some big projects at work, planning a last-minute vacation to Jamaica (so exciting but international travel with kids is lots of work), and dealing with some unexpected health issues that have resulted in four trips to urgent care (fortunately everything seems to be settling back to normal now). The first place where I notice the signs of stress taking its toll is always in my skin as it starts looking dull and even a little splotchy around areas where I’ve struggled with eczema. I went to the Red Door Spa located in Plano location next to Willow Bend Mall.  Upon entering the iconic red doors, it was like entering beauty heaven!  The walls were decked with the most beautiful spread of premium beauty products ranging from Elizabeth Arden, Kerastase, and Aromatherapy Associates.  Once I was checked in to my appointment, I changed into one of their luxurious robes, poured myself a cup of water infused with fresh berries, and relaxed in their lounge for a couple minutes.

My facialist, Shilpa, then came to take me back to the room where she examined my skin and customized a treatment for my needs.  She pointed out some areas of redness and I explained to her my issues with dryness as well.  Shilpa then customized a facial treatment for me using the latest line of Elizabeth Arden PRO products and got to work.  Let me say that it was 60 minutes of pure bliss.  It started off with removal of my makeup and brushing on a cleanser.  My face was then wrapped in warm towels and further detoxing was done to help remove some of the buildup on my skin.  There was a wonderful steamer that opened up my pores and Shilpa even performed some gentle extractions on my nose where I had blackheads (The Red Door Spa doesn’t believe in using harsh tools for extractions, just gentle fingers so it didn’t hurt at all!).  My face was bathed in a rich mask and Shilpa proceeded with massaging my head, face, neck, and shoulders.  My hands were also wrapped in a paraffin wax to soften them up while we waited for the face mask to work its magic.  I’ll admit that after this point I ended up falling asleep as it was all just so relaxing!
